who are they?!
Now playing in League One after beating Yeovil 2-0 at home. What a fantastic achievement that is and it’s likley they’ll be playing Sunderland in the same league! It’s crazy how quickly fortunes can change.
I notices there’s 2 ex Chester players in their starting XI, one which couldn’t get into our Evo-Stik team 😳

Aaron Chapman, Sean McConville, Danny Williams, Offrande Zanzala to name a few Chester links I forgot about Danny Williams. He was excellent in our North season. I’m convinced if we kept most of that North team we would have done a lot better in the National.

We had zero budget until Sarce was sold off though. And there lies the problem. We've been overspending the budget since reformation! And people wonder why fans don't go anymore

We had zero budget until Sarce was sold off though. Surely the 12/13 ST sales would have been decent considering the league win as well as CFU memberships. Makes the 450k budget this season look even more confusing now.

Fantastic for Accrington, With home gates of 3000, But how times have changed Conference North for us, League one for them . This really makes me feel even more gutted & Depressed how we have fallen from grace. league one a distant dream, maybe we need a milk advert Chester Fc Who’re They. Roll on Lanzarote on Friday . We Go again next season, Surely we can’t sink any lower ? CAN WE?

They’re now going into a league where teams are getting up to 20,000.. crazy.

McConville has been named in the League Two team of the year. Definitely a player we didn't fully appreciate while he was here, although we should remember that we did get a small fee for him. Also, he was signed at a point where we were expecting to be playing in the Conference North having previously been at Stalybridge.
Scott Brown was definitely underappreciated. I don't remember anyone slagging him off, he just kind of went unnoticed. He was playing in such a good team, there were other players grabbing our attention and he was just going about things quietly.

If I remember correctly, the reason we didn't sign Danny Williams was because the Board cocked up by dithering which left NY fuming.

Due to their work commitments, with some being self-employed, they couldn't take additional time off to travel to games in advance or stay over.

ASFC also have fantastic community projects going, this is an area where sadly we as a club fall down bigtime. www.stanleytrust.co.uk/

If someone had said to the kid Zanzala would be part of a championship winning team in league 2 I would never believe you. It just goes to show you don’t need to throw big money and big wages like we have done this year.
Scott Brown and Mconville a couple of years ago were decent conference players but no more, now they are picking up league title medals. I thought both were quality in different ways. Brown impressed me but barely started games towards the end of the season, Mconville got dogs abuse and this was a guy who scored and assisted double figures in both.
Coleman has got a nice blend of youth and experience and it’s all about getting the best out of the players you have, something that certain managers that we have had were unable to do. He is a top manager, a bit like Askey, that’s why us keeping McCarthy was like signing our own death warrant.

Accrington are still losing lots of cash every week they are propped up by Holt the chairman, wage bill is still 884k a year if figures are true. Players on 850 a week average ! Without the benefactors money they would fold , Coleman has done a great job there but they are not the well run club living within their means that everyone thinks !

Absolutely tore Stockport apart in that 4-2 cup tie. Was gutted to see him go but couldn't really stand in his way when he had the chance to go to a league club. A bit like Durrell in that he had something about him but wasn't to everyone's taste. Brown, yes, never saw much there. Also rated Chapman...probably the best keeper we have had since reforming.

Will always remember that winner he scored at Lincoln with Kane Richards sitting just behind us after missing the team bus.

Probably didn’t make it clear but I agree, Most people probably seen Mconville as a standard conference player, I personally thought he was quality. Goalscoring midfielders and assists, think he got over over 10 goals and 10 assists, that’s so hard to come by at this level, Reminded me of Frank Lampard the way he was always in the right place in the right time.

Spot on. He also kept the ball very well. Nothing flashy, but able to work the ball out of tight situations and lay it off. Most of our players this season treat the ball like a hot potato and it gets stuck under their feet. There are quite a few Chester fans that know very little about football, and expected McConville to be putting in Roy Keane tackles, tracking back to help full backs and scoring goals. To put it simply, he got goals and assists whilst being a neat and tidy footballer......I’d sacrifice a bollock to have a proper footballer like him now.
