I was reading the NLP this morning and it said that Tom Crawford has been selected for the England C squad to play against Ireland Amateurs on May 27th. Congratulations Tom!

Neil Turner reckons a scout was at the game from Norwich City yesterday, watching one of our players.
Got to be TC, surely?

Unbelievable talent, so composed on the ball for his age and does so much in his defensive game too. Will be extremely lucky if were able to keep him in the summer.

Hyperthetically if the likes of Norwich took TC on board, what sort of deal could we realistically expect?

I expect we would only get buttons for him.
Would hope for a big sell-on clause.
Allegedly we have a sell-on clause for Sam, but it seems to be top secret. Even Jon McCarthy didn't know what it was when I asked him in August.

The buying club nearly always asks for the details of the deal to remain confidential so the selling club has to abide by the deal.

So what type of fee could we get? That’s hard to say very much depends on how many clubs would be interested in young Tom, we got such a good deal on Sam Hughes because Leicester knew other clubs were thinking of making an offer so they jumped the gun and offered 130 to 150k on a take it or leave it basis. Hope the lad stays but if he doesn’t I hope we just get the best deal we can.

Both Academy products, under the age of 23 with vast potential.

Anyone know how long both James Jones and Tom Crawford have been at the club as well? Would be interesting if one or both left us in the summer and how much we would get. We would be able to claim more at a tribunal if we have been responsible for their development since an early age?

Crawford and Jones have been two of the shining lights this season and the fact we are going to lose them for pennies pisses me off.
I don’t know the ins and outs but what should we have done to at least get any kind of decent fee, they won’t accept new deals to stay with us now clearly. The club pretty much admitted this at wednesdays meeting.

No guarantee they'd have signed long term contracts especially considering the position the club has been in. We've offered them terms which is probably all we can do right now. I wouldn't blame either for moving on at this stage of their careers. Both can hold their heads up high for their contributions here. Key for any tribunal involving these two is getting a decent sell on fee.

What we will probably witnesse with the way vultures gather to cream of the best players in the lower league academies, it happened on many occasions to Tranmere and they made the decision to close down the younger age groups as they were bringing lads through only for them to leave and join teams higher up the chain. At least we have offered them a contract so we will be due some money no matter how small.

I dont think he was. Leicester just agreed a fee so tribunal wasnt required?

Whoever the new manager is, their first priority has to be to get Crawford, Jones and Astles to sign new contracts.

Astles can go for me. Controversial maybe but he has been far from blameless this season in a defence conceding far too many soft goals, especially from crosses and set pieces.

I think Sam was only under contract until the end of that season , Leicester came in with a bid to jump the queue as everybody else was waiting for his contract to end before making a move.

Hopefully Tom signs his new.deal on the understanding that Chester would never stand in his way if a good chance arose for him. Great player, smashing lad, and now an international. And was at Derby County yesterday coaching one of the youth teams I believe.

I feel the longer he stays at Chester the better his eventual move will be as he is developing very quickly by playing regular open age football. Hope he and his advisors feel the same.

Imo Crawford, Jones, Brown etc should stay with us for next season, Better chance for them to develop considering the conference north isnt as physical as conference is
