Just signed a 2-year contract extension with Halifax. More proof, I think, that it's not the players but the coaching/man management that is the problem.

Liked Matty Brown, he needs pace beside him but solid enough.

Matty Brown, Sean McConville, Johnny Hunt, Scott Brown (was he released?), Ibou Touray (Salford City).
Any other post-reformation players we released that will as of next year be playing in a higher division than us?

Matty Brown is the closest we've had to a steady captain since we got to this level, except maybe Astles at the moment.

It's a toss up between Paul Linwood and Matty Brown for slowest Chester FC player ever. As OB says above, why do we obsess over former players and staff? Some players work and some don't. I personally thought Mcconville had no heart, yes ability was there but wasn't sorry to see him go but as with most players who leave I wished him all the best. With a different manager and with a different position and role he has proven to be a superb player. As predicted by a fair few on here.

Brown's done ok since leaving us, but arguably centre back has been our strongest position: Heneghan, Hughes, Astles, and Jones are all better or more promising players, whilst he didn't have the experience of Sharps or McCombe (I'm not saying they were good signings by the way). In terms of 'being on the way up' Brown is still only playing National League football three or four years after leaving us. He's hardly one that got away like McConville, Scott Brown, or Jonny Hunt.

It's a toss up between Paul Linwood and Matty Brown for slowest Chester FC player ever. True, he's not the fastest, but his reading of the game has developed to such a level he doesn't need pace and is close to being an upcoming Steve McNulty. His distribution is an asset too. His Achilles Heel is his susceptibility to long term injury and some, for this reason, have expressed the view that the club should look elsewhere. He's only recently changed his Twitter avatar from Chester (I think it was his goal at The shay) to a Halifax pic but now says we are his second club, after Everton. With Scott NcManus rumoured to be moving on after 8 seasons, Matt is a natural replacement as folk hero and fans' favourite. A great captain.

Still don't think he's "class" at this level personally! He's bang average at this level but that's all we really needed. Sometimes players don't work at certain clubs, just look at Torres at Chelsea. It's about having the right people around you, Brown wouldn't have made any difference to us staying up regardless.

My lasting memory of Brown was that sliced “clearance” to setup the Salisbury winger to cross and earn them a 2-2 draw when we needed a win to stay up.

He’s slow, overweight, injury prone, buggered up against Hyde and Salisbury and has not been missed since his departure.

Why do we feel the need to keep twisting the knife? Yes we have been managed extremely poorly by ex employees Move on and look to the future ffs How can you look to the future with any optimism with some of these still around running the club. CH is an absolute liability and needs removing ASAP. Yes we’ve got some promising young players but we will sell them for peanuts. The Smith and Vaughan situations really hurt but this time around grafted into the conference north with little chance of being competitive by the board who love the club really. I hope those concerned have taken great pleasure in ruining something which has been of significant importance too many for x number of years personally 30 +. Absolutely devastated

Absolutely devastated Until the people who have left the club speak out then it's just speculation. I want the best for the club, we all do but at the moment the silence is deafening! If the likes of Simon, Mark, Bernard love the club so much they would speak out against the shysters who are ruining the club today and we can force the issue. I can only assume they are keeping quiet for a reason and it wouldn't surprise me if this investor has something to do with it

No it was deffo Brown and if I remember rightly he threw the ball into the face of a Hyde player. I remember Seddon getting sent off in a game we were winning 3-0 vs Hyde just before Christmas and ended scraping home 3-2. The cynics claimed that he wanted the festive season off.

The cynics must’ve been a bit confused, seeing as that game actually took place in April!

Pretty sure it was in a 3-3 draw against Lincoln when Seddon was sent off, which was just before Christmas.
