Jack Rodwell cost Sunderland £10m, is reportedly on £70,000 a week, and his manager doesn't even know where he is! The below article also says that he has no relegation wage reduction clause and is contracted until Summer 2019, so they could be paying him that amount as a League One club next season. BBC

Bloody hell. Surely he’s in breach of contract if he’s not turning up to training. Hopefully they can terminate his contract & get rid.

That would never happen.
How about clubs start living within their means a bit more and not handing out stupidly long contracts to players who have a suspect history with injuries and handing them a ridiculous sum of money in the process.
If Rodwell wants a move away he needs to start by a) sacking whoever the hell is advising him and b) start turning up to training and getting games under his belt. Nobody is going to fork out 70k a week on a League One footballer, who hasn't played since September last year and who hasn't been to training since god knows when.

He`s signed off officially "sick" apparently which isn`t a breach of contract. Sunderland have been almost criminally mismanaged over the last 6 years. At one stage they were paying off 5 previous managers ! Believe its "only" 3 now.

Sounds a bit to close to home that one.

The sad thing is that Sunderland can still probably afford all this expense more easily than we can manage the Hannah and James situation.

I heard he’s got a relegation clause but he’s still on 40k a week compared to the Accrington players on 500-800!

Don't know which article some of you are reading, I have just read the link above. Manager does not know where he is mentally, no mention of sick pay, training with the U23s, has a relegation clause in his contract meaning he will be earning £43K a week in league 1

Later in the article it says: ”His current deal, set to expire in the summer of 2019, does not include Sunderland's usual 40% wage reduction clause following relegation.”
