Was hearing this yesterday, a shame really. The guy is closest to being our all time appearance holder but has been plighted by injuries. Hope he can recover as got some years left in him at this level.

Sounds like both parties are keen to see Mahon at the club next season. Hopefully he can take the rest of the season to recover and we get Mahon back at his best next season. His cameo against Tranmere showed why must keep him

Five more appearances and he would have played more times for Newco than any other player in this incarnation's seven-year history. Such a shame it isn't looking likely this season - one could only hope he is offered and accepts a contract in the summer. Well, I suppose George Horan might not agree for fear of seeing his record appearance holder title vanish!

Gutted for Mahon will be a big miss. But let's be realistic, we aren't pushing for anything (no play-off push or relegation battle..) so the only thing players are fighting for are a contract next season, and I don't think Mahon has to prove himself whatsoever to extend his stay here. Take the safe option and rest him till the summer imo.

Gutted to hear this but if anyone deserves a new deal it's the Irish magician.
Injured but still managed to go round 5 numb nuts from Tranmere with ease on Friday!

harshly loaned out when he first arrived at chester came back and proved he should of been a regular that season
best spell from craig was under burrs first full season at the club
last season one of many players who was drifted out of position by burr never looked comfortable at all
this season up untill injury looked to be getting back to his best form
hopefully they find out what his injury is get it sorted and lets see the craig mahon we know tearing down the wings

I'm probably the only one who is underwhelmed by Mahon. No doubt he has the ability to beat players but always feel that the end product is lacking and that he's often too deep. No point beating two or three players on the half way line then losing the ball. Someone said to me during the Tranmere game when he went on that run then pulled a weak shot wide that he looks like he's wearing slippers when he's shooting. Never seems to get the ball off the ground. Can't remember the last assist for a goal either. Think he really needs to work on that side of his game. Probably just me being picky - guess he wouldn't be playing for us if he was scoring 8 goals every season and putting in great crosses consistently and in his defence he has been played all over the pitch. Hope he proves me wrong next season.

Been great to see Mahony have cameos at Southport and Tranmere, we have no other player like him. I am happy not to see him this season if we can get a full season out of him next year in the form he has shown this season.

If u actually check the stats, both Durrell and Richards have scored more goals and Durrell has more assists, so if u are satisfied with winding runs and rarely an end product over goals and assists then u should really have a look at yourself

He's one of the few players who can carry the ball up the pitch, retain possession and commit defenders - if we had him for the 90 against Tranmere then he may not have got a goal or assist but he may have helped drag us out of our own half or commit the full backs into making fouls and generally relieve the pressure on the back 4. He'll be the first to admit that he should get more goals and assists, but whenever he gets the ball I'm urging him to run at the full back and draw the foul and he is excellent at doing that. |
