I'm on holiday in Dublin and have only just read Dave Powell's player ratings for the Tranmere game. He's given Richards 7/10, so I'm wondering if he was actually at the match. I would have rated Richards at no more than 2/10. Richards was a passenger until he was substituted.

Wsn't able to get to the game so watched it on TV. Half time "analyst" Steve Burr was waxing lyrical about Richards and I thought the same as you... He was cack!!!

He worked hard stopping one of the best full backs in the league having it all his own way tracking back and too. However he lacked the ability to hold the ball in the second half, with some heavy touches and the defenders outbattling him.
I do think he's a threat with his pace, nobody else in our team offers any pace going forward. I thought there were two others that played worse than Richards, let's be honest, he's turning into a couple of people scapegoat for defeat. These same people are calling for 4-4-2 every week, then we play it with our only two strikers and it'll be Richards fault we don't win. Tranmere trounce our budget, and should beat us 99 games out of 100 with their squad, we battled until the end and we're unlucky not to grab a point in the end.

It wouldn't look really professional and stand out if he had given him a 2 though.

Macca said that Kane was outstanding on Friday.
I thought he started the game ok and done a good job helping out the midfield and helping Alabi, second half though he struggled badly and was rightly taken off.
Kane over the first few months of the season I would keep, the Kane over the last month or so I would release, basically since Akintunde got injured their has been no pressure on his spot and I think this is linked to lack of form and looking disinterested on occasions.

I'm not sure he's up to the standard required, but he's all we've got for now unless we give kids a run out, which I wouldn't mind seeing us do for the last few games. Two things people keep saying to Macca is "play two up front" and "put round pegs in round holes". If we're going to do both, Richards up front alongside Alabi is our only option.

In truth, we just weren't good enough as a team. They were better than us. Yes, they have a bigger budget than us, that's life (or football). What I do believe is that he was the worst player on the park. No control, no touch, no vision, no commitment.

Did Macca really say that? If so I definitely think the extended contract will cost us dear.

What I do believe is that he was the worst player on the park. No control, no touch, no vision, no commitment. There is a difference between a lack in ability and a lack of commitment though. So many people on DC confuse the two. He worked his ar*e off all game up and down tracking the full back, if that's not commitment what is? Not being able to hold the ball up isn't a lack of commitment, its a lack of physicality. He wants to be on the shoulder of the last defender. I'm not saying he's a brilliant player, but he is becoming some peoples excuse for losing matches. There was certainly no lack of commitment, i'd agree with JM, he did well tracking a very good full back but struggled to hold the ball.

No-one is more frustrated with Kane than Kane himself. You see that on the pitch.

Just seen in the Non League Paper that Neil Turner has been brutally honest and given Kane Richards 3/10.
I wonder what Mr Powell will give him?

Just seen in the Non League Paper that Neil Young has been brutally honest and given Kane Richards 3/10. I wonder what Mr Powell will give him? Dave rated him 5/10 - would say that's been his average standard most of the season. Yesterday 3/10 is more than fair. Awful performance and can't remember his last goal.

I had high hopes for Richards after Hannah left, I honestly thought he could step up and fill his boots. He seems to be getting worse every match and is now becoming a laughing stock in the stands. The worrying part is that mcarthy can't see that he's useless and continues to play him, maybe move Durrell upfront instead. I also feel sorry for Alabi he is virtually playing as a lone striker, bet he can't wait to leave in the summer.
