Saw this in the Chronicle: www.chesterchronicle.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/chester-fc-bosses-warn-move-14753889, with the quote: "If they think they can sit on their backsides at home or doing other things and earning extra money while on a full-time contract, that is not going to happen. How that looks will be determined over the coming weeks." ...and thought of Ross and Kingsley. Any ideas what jobs they could do to earn their pay during the week? Sounds like Bernard and Jonno are looking for ideas...

Scouting seems a good one to me. Anyone with some experience of the game can be watching our next opponents, or going to local games to search for future signings. Better than nothing.

I thought there must be some office work they could do - or coaching the kids at local schools.
And the ground could do with a lick of paint...

It reads to me like the managers are giving them a public extra nudge to try and find themselves clubs. Until now the players have been holding firm, which is entirely their prerogative given that we gave them such ridiculous deals in the first place, but it's going to be difficult for them to integrate with a part time team and I can see fans getting on their backs when part time players inevitably perform better than them. It's really in their best interests to either re-negotiate contracts with the club or perhaps lower their demands to interest other clubs.

Get them a petrol strimmer each and tell them to cut the car park grass. Looks a bloody mess, dead scruffy. Earn their money doing that.

Thats not really what they were saying at the meeting, "everyone will have to pull their weight then they wont want to play for us", "players will understand that very quickly"

Not sure why people feel so bitter towards Hannah in particular, he single handedly kept us up in 2016 and was a great servant to the club. He accepted a deal last season that was carelessly offered to him by Maguire and McCarthy he struggled with injury in a dire team and still came out as the top scorer, he went out on loan to Southport when the money issues became apparent, his only remaining crime is he hasn't found another club and is unwilling to voluntarily terminate an employment contract for the sake of his young family.
Making jokes about him doing office work or painting the walls is embarrassing.

If you sign a two-year contract to work somewhere, you expect to be in employment there for two years, not to be forced to look for a new job because the employer didn't look after their finances. The only flaw in that argument is that neither of them played very well last season and in that way, they are partially responsible for the situation.

It's in everybody's best interests for them to move on.. Maybe the club can give them a little sweetener and they can find clubs closer to home which will save them on travel costs. It's not going to be in their best interests to train with the scholars and football is a short career and they both need to be playing. Hannah did have a few good games last season but overall he was dissapointing. God only knows what happened to Kingsley.

He’s a decent lad and doesn’t deserve this muck thrown at him.

Indeed on both counts. But playing out of position and winning a game at aldershot don't account for an extremely poor season on his part. Not tracking back or jogging? Pulling out of basic tackles? Hoofing th ball to nobody. Ok, he wasn't alone in that one. He was by far and away the biggest dissapointment to me last season. I loved him in his previous spell at the club. Had a look of a man who felt he had made a huge mistake!

At the end of the day the club don't have a leg to stand on here. If these lads just want to do the bear minimum in training and just show up for matchday to sit in the stands then that's what they will do.
Images of bern and jonno dragging them out of bed to weed the carpark or paint the bogs are far fetched in the extreme!

Surprised so many have leapt on to their high horses here, the comments about finding them other jobs are just a bit of fun and not worth getting too upset about.
The only embarrassment on this subject is how abject the pair were last season - especially James.

The only embarrassment on this subject is how abject the pair were last season - especially James. Precisely. And finally we have a management team who won't be such a soft touch on these freeloaders. Remember Ross Hannah barging Tom Crawford around last season? And telling a 14 year old kid to fuck off? Now that was embarrassing.

I think Kingsley could get a club easily on a similar contract, but hannah with his age and recent form would struggle to get anything close to what he's on now.

We don't need to be precious on their behalf and having sat through several tribunals, evidence from a fans forum would be laughed out of the room, so we don't need to worry about Unfair Dismissals! I was a big fan of both players first time round, although James' performances after Christmas that season were only a shadow of what went before and agree he got worse and worse played out of position week after week last season. Ross Hannah is more of a worry because he had so many "injuries". I know one or two people who spoke to him off the pitch and weren't conviced he wanted to play. Only opinions mind. Can't blame him, I didn't want to watch either. But if they are here next season they will have a contractual commitment to full-time hours and the club will have to find them something to do. And why is painting such an insult to their talents BTW?!

Ross Hannah lives off the back of his performances two years ago and his 'I love the club' comments. He performed well once last year in a Chester shirt and went to Southport and was equally appalling there. He might have a contract and as a club we need to fulfil it, but his performances and attitude deserve everything they got last year. You expect a lot more from a player who's raiding our coffers for the sum he is and all this 'poor Ross' talk is embarrassing. He either comes back and performs like the player he was two years ago or he buggers off/sits in the stands. There's no place for his and Kingsley's attitude and I'm really pleased to hear it being called out.

If you have sat through tribunals, surely you know the difference between unfair dismissal and constructive dismissal. Why don't people just chill out and see what happens, especially those sanctimonious posters who think players should just walk away from contracts. Hannah and James will not be here next season, at least not on their present terms.

If the PFA was worth it's salt this would be the sort of situation which they could act as intermediaries and use their vast resources to bring this to a satisfactory conclusion for all concerned.
