Not sure why people feel so bitter towards Hannah in particular, he single handedly kept us up in 2016 and was a great servant to the club. He accepted a deal last season that was carelessly offered to him by Maguire and McCarthy he struggled with injury in a dire team and still came out as the top scorer, he went out on loan to Southport when the money issues became apparent, his only remaining crime is he hasn't found another club and is unwilling to voluntarily terminate an employment contract for the sake of his young family. Making jokes about him doing office work or painting the walls is embarrassing. Bang on. I hope Hannah stays scores 30 goals and rams these patronising comments down all his critic’s throats. He’s a decent lad and doesn’t deserve this muck thrown at him. The problem with Ross Hannah is that he was decent here last time. The problem being that he is over the hill and on the way down to retirement. Slower than he was, gets injured more often and obviously not as fit as he was. He is unlikely to get the money he earns here at another club, so he's doing what we would all do and sitting on his contract. He states that he does not want to play in Con/N but he is just not good enough to play in the National league anymore IMO. Kingsley is different. He clearly realised he had made a mistake coming back and his performances over last season showed. His attitude stinks, not just towards the club/team but also towards us the fans and owners of the club. Reputation goes a long way in football and has KJ done himself any favours?

Still think Hannah would score goes in the Conference given the proper service. James isn't a bad footballer but has really lost his way in the game - I seem to recall an interview when he signed saying that he hoping to have got a league club but was still happy to be back at Chester. He was actually ok at the start of the season but then got lumped out of position and subsequently his confidence was shot and he appeared to down tools at times. The Kingsley that we had first time around I'd love to have around, the sulky one of last season needs to go. Realistically the footballing side has literally relevance though, financially it's a huge burden to carry them and it's one entirely of our own doing.

Both need to go but I don't think you could judge them on their beginning to last season. McCarthy's tactics were as bad as I've ever seen and it's no doubt all of our players floundered.
By the time he finally left, the rot had well and truly set in. Players low on confidence, being shifted out of position and with a revolving squad door. They both let themselves down this season, but I'd bet they could do a lot better in the conference premier with a proper pre-season and a manager who knows what he was doing.

People seem to forget the reason that Kingsley was played out of position last season. He was moved from centre midfield primarily because his performances were so poor. He struggled wide after that either due to his lack of pace or ability to play there. He didn't play well really in any of the 20 odd games I saw him play last season. Sad because there should be a player in there still.
For me, Ross didn't want to be here after September. He was always injured, which didn't help admittedly. The last few games though his attitude stunk. He shouldered Tom Crawford, for something that what was actually his own fault. He also gave the young keeper a right mouthful at Fylde after he conceded a soft corner. The last game before his loan spell he appeared to be going through the motions trying not to get injured, or even get in position to receive the ball. Not a good example for an experienced player to set, especially towards the young players. Let's hope for all parties that he finds a suitable move for him and us. He might get a move to a club with a big squad that can afford to wheel him off the bench if they need a goal. Fylde?? Salford?? Eastleigh??

Presumably the Salford LADS would want the full-time players - of which there are five remember (not just Hannah and James but Mahon, Archer and Waters too) to be in the gym all day working on their fitness when there's no training session.
I despair at the disrespect shown to two of those five players in this thread, just for signing contract terms which were offered to them with no contingency plan for if the club ran into financial difficulties.

Bern and Jonno mentioned going into the schools and community. I felt that they were thinking the full time players could be part of that. Fair comment regarding the disrespect. Our lack of controls and leadership put us in this mess. However, Ross did himself no favours with his apparent poor attitude last season. I say 'apparent' because it's sometimes difficult to tell from a distance. I've seen enough, and played enough, football to judge when a player doesn't want to be there. Don't expect any movement until after end of June at the earliest. Any new contract wouldn't start until July anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if nothing concrete happens until the start of the season, maybe later.

Got to agree, being treated like the enemy, they both have bills. How many people would walk out of job with nothing to go to.
Do not know what people really expect, think they need to lay off them a bit, no complaints when they were both signed, a bad season all around. Wouldn't mind seeing Hannah up front next season with a competitive team and James come to think of that, think they could both prove a point.

I think criticising them as footballers is fair enough. They were both poor last season, and we know they are capable of better. With the contracts they’re on, we’re not being unfair by expecting a bit more from them.
Expecting them to just sack off their contract though, that’s completely deluded. Unless you’re a child, or an adult who has all your bills paid by your parents, I can’t believe anyone can expect them to do that.

Cant slate them for their contracts. That is their livelihood and the fault of our financial people at the time.
Both of them were very, very poor last season though. If they stay, I'd expect to see them fitter than everyone else, looking to bust a gut for us and out in the schools and at summer schools to fill their time commitment to us.
Whilst Mahons attitude didn't appear to be a problem, the injuries did seem to have taken a toll and I'd also hope we will see a rejuvenated player after a proper pre-seasons training under his belt. He will be one of the best paid at the club next season and with that will come some expectation.
Talk of them painting fences and strimming were jokes I am sure. At least mine was.

The situation with their contracts is just yet another by-product of the club not being run properly 12 months ago. Can't blame them for that.

I don't think Bignot's gun hoe attitude towards the training helped either, we had a mass of pull's and strains over a short period of time which affected team selection weekly.

Personally I would love them to turn in one of last seasons dog shit performances and see them get a Class of 92 style bollocking. Makes me think they wont want to stay around to actually earn their corn.

I'd prefer they busted a gut to play well for us, though it's out of theirs and the managers' hands because we need them both off the wage bill.

It might be a longshot but if they did put the effort in and we were a winning side, surely attendances would increase and cover their wages?

Perhaps Ross being around and banging in 12-15 goals between now and Jan and then moving on could be the best of both worlds - it halves his salary, hopefully stabilises the team, etc - obviously the new management will have to spend the summer explaining the offside rule to Ross and I’ll need to stop drinking so early on a Sunday!
