Noticed the new TV rights deal for the Premier League comes in at nearly £1b less than the last deal.
Also with all this talk about needing more competition than just the sky-bt stranglehold, I can't help but think that when sky were the only ones with rights, it cost £40 a month to watch all the games, bt came along to give 'competition', and charge an extra £20 a month on top. Now Amazon will want £8 a month on top of that!!
Isnt it the consumer who's meant to get a better deal due to competition? Now you'd need to pay 3 subscriptions instead of 1 to watch all the games.

Know what you’re saying, it’s a total rip off.
Personally I have no interest in the premiership so it doesn’t apply to me.
It’s no wonder that people start buying iptv and watching all the games on the Arab channels on there. Then Sky start moaning they’re being done out of money.
Lower your prices then people wouldn’t do it. Simple.

They are losing money regardless

If people want to watch live football, why don’t they just go to the pub? If you subscribe to a package, how many of those games are you actually going to watch? I’d rather support the pub industry than give my money directly to those with the questionable ethics of Amazon and Rupert Murdock.

When I first got Sky it was on the basis that it would save me money, as I wouldn't have to go to the pub to watch the games. It's a nice thought of supporting the pub industry, but if I want to go and watch say 1 match a weekend in my local then at £4 a pint and consuming about 4 a match would mean I'm spending over £60 a month just on beer. Add in that sometimes I'll have more than 4, or I'll have some food too, then its cheaper to get Sky and stay at home and have the freedom of watching more than 1 match a weekend. What also puts me off is that if one of the teams on that chosen match is someone like Liverpool then there are plenty of idiots about and you're all jostling for position for a decent view. Of course, there are occasions where I still go to the pub for a match if I'm meeting up with friends but overall having Sky has suited my viewing preferences perfectly and achieves the objective of spending less money watching sport, and added health benefits of not having to drink beer every time I watch a match.

If you’re a craft beer type you can easily find yourself getting little change from a fiver for a pint.

The pub I go to has its own micro brewery and his beers are all less than £4 a pint guess I'm fortunate then

Is "craft beer" another terminology for rip off beer. I recall going into a well known chain where they were selling craft beer ,Sagres, at £4.00 per bottle, currently enjoying same "craft beer" at 90 cents a bottle in the bar, 55 cents from the supermercado!!
I think people are getting taken in with this craft beer malarky!

I thought it was a southern thing myself, a bit like 'smashed avocado', and other such 'delicacies' that people down south eat and drink not because they like the taste of them but because they think it gives them some sort of social gravitas.

Few pints in the Swan, then up to the Big House (The Bull) for the entertainment. Wally the Compère. Left for Uni in 1972, so I guess it’s changed since then. Used to be Burtonwood brewery I think.
