If you had the power to award one knighthood and take away one who would they be.
Mine would be: award one to whispering Bob Harris and take one away from that Brailsford geezer.

Tell you what I would do, take them all off active sportsmen/women. Shouldn't even be considered until after retirement.

In the spirit of answering the question, I'd say take it off McCartney and give it to Lennon, but in truth I think the whole system is a load of bollocks and anyone who turns down an honour goes up in my estimation.
Do we need unelected monarchs to be handing out merit badges to let us know who the important people are in our 'Empire'? And the fact that they chose the likes of Jimmy Savile and Phillip Green suggests they're not always great judges either.

Not sure Lennon would have wanted a title either .or deserved one . he had a very dark ,unpleasant side to him . Agree about the honours system though ,its corrupt

I'd remove it from Matt Hill MBE because he's a cockney twat, and award it to myself.

I'd take if off Sean Connery and give it to someone who lives in the UK.

I'd like to see more celebrities etc take a stand and refuse these honours. They're already rich and famous, they shouldn't need these silly accolades to show that they're a level above the rest of us.
Look at Jimmy Savile. You can't strip someone of their honours after they die, so historically, we have to refer to one of the most prolific child molesters ever known as Sir Jimmy Savile. It's ridiculous, the royals are not in a position to be able to judge who to reward out of us ordinary folk.

The popular broadcaster Emily Maitland deserves an award for her response to that piece of baggage Andrea Leadsom.

We could add Sir Norman Bettison to the list, now facing charges of misconduct to do with alleged Hillsborough lies.

The British honours system is a national disgrace. It is the establishment rewarding the establishment in the interests of the establishment. It is elitism personified, with the dominant postcode of recipients being SW1. CBE, OBE etc. all refer to the former British Empire; can we really defend an honour that celebrates colonialism? One of the best articles I have read on this matter was published by Peter Tatchell back in 2011, well worth a read. www.petertatchell.net/republic/honours-system-is-rotten-reform-it.htm
