The one thing I didn't expect tonight was a 0-0. Sounded scrappy, maybe a product of our disjointed start? Clean sheet at least.

Rubbish game. They had no quality and neither did we. Wrong subs. And big question marks over several players tonight.

If we play like that against City of Liverpool FC in the FA Cup we can forget about progressing.
My mate is ground hoping in the Evo Stik Leagues and he says he sees far more quality there than on show tonight.
Two very, very poor teams.

Fuming after that. It was awful, 2nd to everything. If we had played someone half decent we would have had another Blyth on our hands. Boston away could be messy if we play like that. Other than the stonewall pen we did nothing and that’ll be the last time we see 2,000 for the remainder of the season.

Important not to overreact - it was a scrappy, crap game where defences were on top. Neither team managed to truly ask questions in an attacking sense and it was just a bit of a flat game. It highlighted the lack of depth up front though as without Deane Smalley we had no plan B to come off the bench and ask different questions. Frustratingly once again the substitutions killed momentum....Mahon was finding space on the left and had a pretty good shout for a penalty turned down then he gets taken off......doesn’t make sense to me. And the game was crying out for someone with a bit of quality on the ball so Roberts should have been given 25 minutes for Burton was who booked early on.
The positives.....a clean sheet and unbeaten at home. The negatives.....lack of creativity centrally and lack of options on the bench. Bored of saying it, but we are a George Green away from being a good side.
Should also give a mention to Stopforth who was an absolute engine in the middle, and also though Moran was good. Whilst tonight was disappointing following a Saturday I’m afraid we will see some crap games like that at this level, it’s just a sign of where we are. Won’t be the last time we see two teams huffing and puffing to a goalless draw.

Just underwhelming against a stubborn side I thought, it happens. Didn't really click going forward as they got tight to us and we ended up misplacing a lot. Huffed and puffed but didn't get anywhere often getting crowded out.
Words like 'fuming' being used to describe it though, bloody hell, strange.

Nothing really came off tonight, no flicks or passes really worked in breaking them down. It was a night for putting your foot on the ball and patiently building up an attack - everything felt so rushed though tonight.
I think FCUM can play and won't be threatened by relegation but like us looked a bit toothless tonight. We know we can score goals though so hopefully we'll look more creative moving forward.
Not overly disheartened by that.

Why take Mahon off just as he was coming alive? Subs killed the momentum. Jordan did nothing and Pritchard did even worse

On the whole a disappointing evening which just never got going. I thought that the actual match was rather flat and a draw is a fair result in all honesty. Of course the general feeling will consist of frustration due to FC United being bottom of the league, and we didn’t exploit that advantage. On the positive side though, we were much stronger defensively but up top we didn’t have that fire power.
We probably shaded the first half, although we weren’t at our best. I thought that we offered more than FC did chances wise but never had that killer end product. As I said earlier on, defensively we were much more solid. Steve Howson had another good game as well as Simon Grand who was dominant. Our midfield was effective at times, but the frustrating thing was we gave the ball away far too many times. FC United didn’t play too well, but they did make things tricky for us. At times though, we did play some decent stuff as our overall performance wasn’t dreadful.
FC United Of Manchester started to up there game in the second period. Again, there was some frustrating moments from our perspective as we never went that extra mile. I must confess though why Mahon got substituted just as he was starting to come alive. I’d just say that the whole game was just a flat spectacle which we must dust off going into Saturday.
A point isn’t the end of the world, but if we are to triumph at Boston then we must improve on this scrappy display. I’m really looking forward to this game as this may be the first and last time I go there, as I believe that there current stadium is due to be demolished. It will still be a winnable game as they have made an inconsistent start, so we must get right into them. Once again tonight’s result was a disappointment, but let’s not dwell on it too much.

We have a tough run of league games now (Boston, Kiddy, Chorley), which makes tonight’s result all the more frustrating.
I accept that we are a work in progress and won’t be challenging for the title, but we should be aiming for the play offs, so we need to start turning these draws into wins.
Its a shame Deane Smalley picked up a knock again, because I think he would have made a difference tonight and just shows the lack of options up front. Whatever happened to the forward we were meant to be looking at a few weeks ago or was that Jordan?
Hopefully, we can win he FA Cup game to give the managers a cash boost with the budget.

Pretty scrappy game Bit too rushed with no one capable of putting their foot on the ball. Defensively we muxh improved with good performances from Howson and Moran. Also, thought Dom Smalley had an excellent game. Draw was probably a fair result. Although we had a stonewall penalty turned down. Lacked quality in the final third tonight, where nothing really came off.

Man marking was poor, watched the ball and had no player awareness throughout the game. Sorry but he is massive weak link in that defence. Been terrible the last 2 games.

Dom had a better game tonight than he did on Saturday, but that’s not hard really is it. Can’t fault his effort, but I just don’t think he’s good enough for a team that wants to be challenging for promotion at this level. Likewise with Prichard and Shenton.

In all honesty anything can happen in these derby style games, where most the players will be out in town with one another at the weekend! Rubbish watch, but I don’t understand some of the overreactions. It’s a game we’ve seen Chester sides lose many times over the years and we probably edged the game and got a point. No huge standouts, Mahony was chalk and cheese from Saturday but he wasn’t the only one. Moran did okay. Mooney looks a threat but nothing quite happened. Nobody can argue we aren’t starting to get points anyway.

Should have won that in the first 25 minutes when Mooney looked dangerous. After that he didnt really get involved. Moran much improved from Saturday, won 6lots of headers, but distribution awful. Happy with a point though. Last season we would have lost that hsm7

Is it just me or do we water the pitch far too much? When we play balls in behind they just skid away out for a goal kick or a throw in... We need bern and jonno to have a word with the groundsmen.

Just too many times though the ball was played down the channels and looked like it was bouncing on ice and picking up speed there was that much water put on in the second half. If it held up a bit more we could've gotten on to a few of those in dangerous positions.

How crap is the standard at this level? I'm pretty sure it wasn't like this last time we were in this division. No quality on the ball and some of the decision making is laughable. Pritchard and Smalley are two of the worst players I've seen in a Chester shirt since reformation. How they keep getting a game is criminal. Massive tests ahead with Boston, Kiddy and Chorley. I do fear we are going to get murdered with that defence.

Its pub football mate played by players who aren't good enough to be professionals , and it was last time, but we were winning then which made it seem more enjoyable.
Even at this level we can't compete, how low do we need to drop before we do ?
