Not sure why but our home support seems to be declining again at the moment, we should be atleast getting 1900 in this league anything less is dissapointing, saturdays crowd for example wasn't great

Because the football is rubbish? the last few seasons have been awful. Especially at home. And this season the jury is very much still out? Three home games so far. Spennymoor was ok. Saturday was superb and last night was boring.

Still early on in the season but if we win games crowds will be around 2,000. Performances like yesterday and results against Blyth it'll be down to 1,400

I've had a season ticket for these past 8 seasons, but I missed 8 home games last season, some because of being away, but last season Emmerdale was a more attractive proposition.

Win a few games on the trot and they'd all be back. Doesn't help that the atmosphere at the stadium has gone a bit dull again. Particularly the Harry Mac.

Always been rubbish. Luckily we’ve got 1000 or so loyal fans who will go whatever. Most of them are probably aged 50+, worrying for the future.

atmosphere has been very poor for a long time at the Deva which doesn't help generate new support, but one thing is for certain you don't quite know what you are going to get when arriving, which keeps it interesting ...the standard has been very poor though, not just from us but most of the teams we have played, for £15 to sit down its expensive to watch for the quality on offer...crowds i think will settle down to around 1400 to 1500 even if results improve a bit, and coupled with winters arrival we will be struggling for income again for the following season..and that means more dipping in pockets...makes you wonder how much the net cost of watching us per supporter per season really amounts to?

To those complaining about the atmosphere there was plenty of us in the middle of the HM giving it a go and everyone else standing around in silence. We are all on the same terrace after all.

I thought the atmosphere was alright last night. I didn’t hear the said boos at half time and the crowd around me were supportive. I think the floaters just go off word of mouth. If they hear about 5-3 thrillers they will come. If they hear about dog turd 0-0’s and players not being able to string two passes together they will stop at home and watch Emmerdale.

Aye, the lads gave it a go tonight, certainly for the first 15 mins. There's a lack of songs in comparison to the early days of 'I am a cestrian' and the Mike Wilde bounce.

I was actually saying in conversation last night that back in the old Sealand Road days there would be a song for every player in our team before the match, and plenty of songs throughout. As was pointed out to me, times have changed and age groups differ on the terrace now, but how good would it be if everyone could sing their hearts out on the terrace. For those who are trying to get the atmosphere going, thank you and don't give up! We need you to keep trying as much as the players need to give you something to shout about.

The 'I am a Cestrian' chant wasn't really future-proofed, was it? We weren't going to be 'Youngy's barmy blue and white army, top of the league' forever, and once we weren't that chant died off. Shame because it was a decent one.
I suppose we could sit here and have a go at typing up lyrics, but that's not really how chants develop. As Jeff says, players playing well inspire supporters to sing, and the singing inspires them to play better, so it's a bit of a circle that someone needs to start.

How can fans say its rubbish football beats me when most dont even go to matches (see crowd numbers) This team are still bonding and have the basis of a good side but due to outside problem I.E ground repairs have not had much match fitness time that others in the league have so proves the knockers that dont know what they are talking about or have never played the game

ill agree, it takes 10 games for the players to know each other on the field and that goes for all teams, and also for the managers to see who is and who isn't doing their jobs, but ive watched a bit of welsh league football over the years and the standard isn't much better in this league..

Most fans I speak to are either native of somewhere else, or a resident elsewhere, so not Cestrians.

Liverpool have a good thing going at the moment... After games fans can go to a warehouse, have a drink or two and listen to a local bloke sing their songs / chants etc: www.bing.com/videos/search?q=liverpool+fc+jamie+webster&&view=detail&mid=FAF0EF44F76F7A01D7BCFAF0EF44F76F7A01D7BC&&FORM=VDRVRVIt's a way for fans to sing the songs, try new ones, learn the words etc. It's no coincidence that Liverpool, have a large repertoire of songs - certainly compared to past seasons. Hopefully (if we do get the Blues Bar improved), we could get a local guitarist to whip the crowd up before games in a similar sort of way? Be a good way for some of the above suggestions to get an airing to see which one works best.

Surely it'd be: I am a Chester fan, I am a Cestrian! Bern and Jonos' barmy blue white army. Chester FC, were in the non-league Cos I wanna be Chester FC I agree, I'd have said exact same but "chester Fc - we're still non-league But I... wanna be... chester fc" But either works and should be a starting point as it's easily repeated for a long time. For longevity you could always keep altering the penultimate line to keep the chant going. Keep pausing at that point and let someone shout out what they think works Other chant I'd like to see back is "A team of George Horans" he's our main hall of famer- a triple winning captain, we can still sing about him, also his goal at witton song. Chants always evoke naturally but someone has to get something catchy together New chant wise it's difficult at this level when the team will change every year, so it's better to focus on our recent history, young, Horan, people who got the club going again So like "in twenty ten we had to start all over again Youngie built a team that won the league beating Skem In 2012 we did it again in the northern prem In the confererence north we blew them away With anomie sarcevic leading the way Neil...young... smashed the northern leagues.

whatever the songs would be, it'd just be great to hear a barrage of songs from about 2.45 onwards, sing a song for each player on the pitch, let them know you're behind them.
And of course all the old classics thrown in too. There are plenty out there to sing, just a case of encouraging more to sign along.
We always seem to make a great noise away from home, so need to replicate that at the Deva.
