Hello all, I’m a Dunston fan. Hopefully you’ll bring large number up to Tyneside. For those of you not familiar with the area, Dunston is in Gateshead and is about 10 minutes drive out of Newcastle City Centre. As an away day out, you can obviously take your pick of pubs, clubs, bars etc in Newcastle. A short bus journey from the city centre will have you at the UTS Stadium in less than 15 minutes. There’s two decent side pubs close to the ground, namely The Royal and The Tudor Rose. Both have decent sized beer gardens. The Clubhouse at the ground will no doubt be happy to have you and convert your hard earned golden coins into magic booze. For anyone struggling to get a weekend pass from their partners, feel free to pass them off the The MetroCentre, were they can spend hours wandering around various shops which are found in any other City, spending money on consumer goods until their hearts are content. It’s one of Europe’s largest shopping centres and is about 5 mins away from The UTS Stadium. This is a massive game for ourselves, given the history and support Chester have. I’m really looking forward to it. Hopefully we can give you a run for your money. If anyone needs any information or help, let me know. Enjoy your day out in The Peoples’ Republic of Dunston Regards Danny Can your ground/club house cater for 400+ thirsty and hungry souls from West Cheshire? They won't need to, we'll take about 175 up there.

Indeed, all the BBC's early qualifying round streamed matches have been 12.30pm kick offs last season and so far this season. I would be surprised if our game is not the one picked for TV. The only one I can see rivalling it is Consett (if they win the replay) against Telford, but the dynamic duo and our ex-League Status should make us more of a draw. Don’t think the BBC has ever shown a live Chester game before. I had a sneaky suspicion we had and remembered the opponents too.
Just checked the dates on Chas's site and we played Man City at home in the FA Cup (lost 1-4) in December 1999.
It was definitely live on the telly and I seem to remember it being on BBC, although I could be wrong as I was at the game.

Sky Sports and ITV had the coverage rights at that time. I remember the game being played on a Sunday but don't remember it being televised.

Yeah, I remember that game but pretty sure it wasn't on TV. Man City were in the old First Division at the time so the tie didn't quite have the selling factor it would today.
That game rarely gets talked about, but we matched them for 80 minutes before collapsing in the last 10. The 4-1 score was very harsh.

Had a quick trawl on google and maybe it wasn't live the box, I was sure it was though at the time, getting too old to remember now!

Does anyone know when the televised game will be announced? Can't seem to find any info about it. They announced Lymington v Torquay as the televised game last round on the Friday after the draw, so I expect towards the end of this week.

Would hope that its the North sections turn this time (that's assuming the BBC are doing it fairly) which would give us a good chance of being chosen

Does anyone know what the participating clubs receive for live tv games at this stage? Is the money split equally between the clubs? Could be another nice little earner.

Gosh, it was one of the handfull of games i managed to get to with my son, from London. Funny how a thread and comments like yours bring back memories, otherwise forgotten. I recall thinking how good our young full back was...forget his name. Signed soon after by Shrewsbury if i recall correctly. And yes i remember we were very good for most of the match

Don’t think this was on the TV, but despite the score line it was a highlight of that 1999/2000 season. We more than held our own against Man City before conceding 3 goals late on giving the score line a flattering look. How we went from that (where it seemed we might actually look like we have got the ability to drag us off the bottom at the time) to losing 5-1 to Orient and 4-1 at Carlisle just a month later (the 3rd Round was played a month earlier due to Manchester United’s absence) beggared belief. Still remember Richardson’s goal now. Buried it into the top corner from inside the box. Half decent finish and remember Beckett through on goal at one point but Nicky Weaver denied him. What could have been, eh? 12 months later we were robbed at Blackburn. Sigh.

See Hereford came from 3-0 down to win 4-3 at Truro in a replay tonight, including a missed penalty by Harry White.

You should all google the Mandela effect. If you don’t know, it’s bacically where a large group of people claim to remember an event or happening that never actually happened. Such as Mandela dieing in the 1980s, and in this case the Man City match being on tv......I do remember us loosing an fa cup match on tv to Burnley (3-0?) around the early to mid 90s

Our 1990s televised FA Cup ties were defeats against Burnley (1-2, 1994/95) and Wrexham (0-2, 1997/98).
I remember both games. Think it's only been the home replays against Cheltenham and Barnsley that have been televised since then?

Peterborough Sports v Chorley has been picked as the live game. How much do they get for this? I suppose the think that there might be a bigger chance of an upset on the back of Peterborough Sports win at Boston than there might be with our match.

I suppose you could argue those two sides deserve the spotlight, with Peterborough Sports knocking out Boston and Chorley dominating our league. I expect it will be a comfortable Chorley win though. Our game probably has more chance of an upset given we can be a bit erratic and Dunston’s league is known to be a strong one.
