Ive been wondering if Bern and Jono just wanted him to be fit for the second half/later end of the season and have next season in mind for him. Remember he's still young, and could be a great asset in the coming years I’m pretty sure it’s transpired that the injury was worse than first thought. But I'm not sure that's a reason to get shot. At least not this early in the season. Does seem odd. No-one seems to know what's going on although I heard he was at the Hereford game which is a good sign.

Why are we going to donate money to a player who is never likely to pull on a Chester shirt? We paid a transfer fee for him and I am assuming he is picking up a weekly wage. Didn't even get a mention tonight in the discussions about injuries and I've not seen him at a game in a while. Seems to be living off the back of telling his story to anyone who will listen. The managers have got a lot right, however we seem to have lost out both physically and financially with this one. He arrived injured and it seems evident that this was known, even if the extent of it wasn't fully understood. Should have been investigated properly at medical before pen was put to paper. I tend to agree here and I’d also go as far as to question how committed he is to Chester FC to be quite frank. How often does he attend matches or visit the club?. He never mentions the club or interacts with team mates on twitter from what I’ve seen and I’m pretty sure I heard him say in an interview in preseason that he saw us as a chance to resurrect his career to move on to bigger things. I remember at the time that I thought it was odd that he sounded quite distant when he spoke of the club and didn’t say ‘we’ or ‘us’ like most players do. Rightly or wrongly, the managers obviously deemed him worthy of a contract, so it’s only fair that we honour that deal. But the last thing we need is to raise funds for an operation that may or may not cure his injury only for him to then walk away at the end of the season to sign for another club if he is cured.

I'll be in a very small majority but I'd honestly prefer to see us help him in anyway we can in life. In fact I'd take that over any promotion. There's more to life than football - a young man with a you a family trying to resurrect his own life let alone his career. If we can show loyalty to him, I'd hope he would do the same for us over the next couple of years. Very well put, are you sure your from Blacon😂. 😂 The only one in my family history to make it through high school and later onto University. Sense of humour finally on DC 😮

I was just replying to Gandalf’s comment about the managers possibly bringing him in with a view to next season, I don’t think that’s the case, I think the injury is worse than originally thought.

There is a bit of a balance to be struck. Lets not lose sight that the most important thing is the health and wellbeing of young lad with a young family who has had a really tough time. I'm sure he's frustrated at not playing and things like that could well trigger a relapse, so I don't think some of the stuff being said is particularly helpful right now. We gave him a contract and only the people who have knowledge of the medical that was completed will know the ins and outs, but I'm guessing we wouldn't have signed him if we'd known the severity of the back problem especially given how tight finances are. We are a community club and with that ethos in mind we should be doing everything we can within reason to support the lad through a tough time - at the end of the day he's contracted to us and he's our player so we have to honour and support that. I probably wouldn't go as far as crowdfunders etc though, as ultimately we are a business not a charity and it's not like we're not paying him already, but sure the club can still support and assist him in other ways. It sounds like we're stuck between a rock and a hard place in that neither George or the club has the money to pay for the operation, which is nobodies fault and its the reality of most clubs at this level. I have my doubts that we'll ever see him in a Chester shirt, but I really hope that we will and that he can eventually repay the faith and patience shown to him.
