I'm sure I read that Tom Shaw does some coaching work at Derby during the week
Given that Big Chris was AWOL yet again, is there any mileage in TS maybe taking on a player/assistant manager role? (He was pretty involved on the touchline yesterday)
After all, he seems to be committed to the club, is a decent enough captain on the pitch + at 30, he's probably beginning to think of his future after playing.
In my humble view, he might fill the role vacated by Sharps whilst still playing himself - many DCers, myself included, feel that Sharp's influence is sorely missed
Any views?

Good shout, but he's not going to able to do any matchday coaching because I hope he'll be on the pitch.

I agree with you, he's one of our best players and we need him on the field I was thinking more along the lines of what goes on during the week + manager/asst type discussions + a sounding board for Macca etc etc Also, there will be the odd occasion when he would be on the touchline e.g injury, suspension but at least he would be there and involved in the club on a regular basis which is more than Big Chris seems to be

We need him on the pitch, not in the dugout.

I suppose if we are trying to cut costs, this would help as we could put the saving of not paying for a non playing Assistant Manager to that of the better players we are trying to keep for next season i.e. Alabi/Astles etc though i must admit the list of players i'd keep is dwindling at the moment.
