Another superb idea from the legend Banksy. I’ve got two mates who have never been coming with me. Everyone needs to do their bit and make this a winner. We deserve it as a club and Banksy especially deserves it for all of his amazing work.

I do know that the club have spoken to Goals several times in the past. I can't comment on when the last time that was, it may have been via commercial or via the community trust, I don't know but can certainly find out. We did look into the possibility of a full size pitch there a few years ago but this was not possible and of course since then it's become the car dealership. A training set up at goals would only have worked if a full size pitch would have been possible as the players need to have 11 v 11 sessions. This was something discussed and felt by Neil Young when he was here. 5 a side and 7 a side pitches were just not worthwhile to what the management team needed. Getting back to 'ask a mate' we need to do all kinds of these things to try and attract back the fans who used to come, I do feel that once back and they enjoy the matchday experience then the hook is there again. Hearing good things from Darlington fans about next week's match and hopefully they'll travel in numbers and a cracking atmosphere can be had at the Deva. Hopefully this thread will build over one page as this really is a feel good initiative coming from fans who are on the FEWG and trying to come up with ideas that will help the club. Seeing other threads with 7 pages on then seeing this one with only 1 page can pull you down so please everyone let's start bigging the Retro theme up and make this an enjoyable occasion. The social media coverage has started and is ongoing, the written press and radio will also be going with it next week, all we need is the message to be out there as far and wide as possible. We've also had some great interest in this from the likes of retro based companies so this is gaining momentum. Sorry to harp on but the gist of this post is contact may have been made with the likes of Goals, but just because things haven't turned out as suggested doesn't mean that it's not been discussed or developed further. And let's try and keep this thread a positive one! Jeff Another point is (a point which I think 1967 was trying to make re the kids at Goals) , maybe not so much using the facilities at Goals, but they have such a decent footfall that surely a presence could be established there. Flyers, posters, CFU and JBs forms etc. I can't see why that would be too hard to negotiate. Us and them are not in direct competition, we don't offer the same product. Perhaps a reciprocal arrangement could be made? A CFC presence on site at Goals in return for a advertising board? That's a fantastic idea and easily done. Come on Chester get over there.

The lack of advertising the club is doing for this is concerning, I know the Fan engagement account is advertising it very well however they don't have the following that the club has on twitter Facebook etc so it won't reach to as many people as if it was posted by the official accounts themselves

There's also an article planned for tomorrow on the website as well as an announcement at the ground tomorrow night. The FEWG have taken the lead on this one given there is plenty of other things going on for the official club twitter, Saturday and tomorrow nights match for instance. We just felt that it would be lost amongst everything else the club is promoting out there if it was to be solely on the club twitter. I'm hopeful that the chronicle will also be promoting the retro game too, in Thursday's edition. Still trying to get the message further than that too. Jeff

Hi everyone - understand that tonight's game must come and go first - and all the very best to the Blues tonight in the FA Trophy - but we wanted to let people know we're posting up some nostalgic videos this week ahead of Saturday's #RetroDay game against Darlington FC. We're also involved with Jeff Banks and the FEWG in giving away some fantastic retro audio prizes on Saturday too, so get involved there - just in time for Christmas, so if you really don't want to head out to the shops, there's a chance you could win gifts for your friends or family...or keep it yourself! Anyway, we've posted this on our social media pages ( BuyCleverStuff on Facebook / BuyCleverStuff on Twitter) and also YouTube so we can share it on here! Take a quick trip back to 1968...when a pint of milk was 17p...and a pint of beer just 13p!

Not sure if it's been asked but what has happened to the online tickets? It seems like we've stopped doing it... stupid thing to do ahead of a game like this

The cost of the platform as well as the percentage taken from any ticket sales on that platform. I hear we would have to sell out home games to make it worthwhile for us.

Back again for another day of reminiscing on times gone by...
Today we're looking at 1978, when a certain young lad by the name of Ian Rush made his debut in the Third Division!
The most important fact we felt we needed to include again was the price of beer - an outstanding 40p a pint back in the late Seventies!
There was plenty of musical choice we could have had, however we didn't think Grease would go down too well!
Don't forget we're teaming up with the club this weekend in giving away some fantastic retro audio products just in time for Christmas - and we're going to look to do something a little bit special as well in December for both the fans if they buy online which will also help the club too - similar to the Amazon initiative the Community Trust are currently running!
Let us know your favourite memories of the past too as we build up towards this Saturday's #RetroDay fixture!

There hasn't been the uptake we'd have hoped for despite it being there as do option. There is a large cost to running the platform but we will continue to look at other similar options to allow fans to purchase online. Jeff

From CFC OWS -
Chester FC fans are being offered the chance to take part in the Half Time Challenge on the Swansway Chester Stadium pitch, which will of course be sandwiched in-between the match against Darlington.
It is of course #RetroDay at Chester FC this Saturday, and thanks to local business Buy Clever Stuff, there are some excellent retro style prizes on offer for the winner.
All you need to do to get involved is to follow the Fan Engagement Working Group Twitter account @cfcfewg and answer 3 questions which relate to both Chester FC and Darlington FC.
The three questions are:
Q1 – Who scored the goals for Chester in the 4-4 draw against Darlington?
Q2 – Name three players who have played for both Chester and Darlington?
Q3 – What season did Chester beat Darlington 6-0 after leading 5-0 at Half Time?
Respond to those questions by 6pm Thursday 29th November and if selected you’ll get the chance to take part in the Half Time Challenge on the pitch this Saturday!
Saturday’s Retro theme has also spread to the turnstiles with special reductions for the match itself, with Adult entry at just £10, Concessions £5, and Under 18s for just £1 – Under 5s entry is free as per usual.
There are also special meal deals to be had in the kiosks and in the Blues Bar, in the kiosks you’ll be able to get a Bovril, Pie and a chocolate bar for £4.50 whilst in the Blues Bar there will be the deal of a Pie and a Beer or Cider for £5.
This is an ideal opportunity for Chester fans to pull those old replica shirts and get them on to help celebrate the Retro theme – whether those shirts still fit is of course another matter!
There is also a special ‘Retro’ edition of The Cestrian available to buy on the day too, with lots of unique content inside and a special front cover containing some great images from Chester’s past.
So, please spread the word and bring someone to the match who maybe hasn’t been for years, or even at all, and let’s have a great experience to remember!

Zooming on through to the 1980s - 1988 to be exact - some 30 years ago! Big hair, neon, spandex, white suits and sunglasses...what a time to be alive then! Most importantly we were on the cusp of a pint being a whole £1 in 1988, which was also a scary time in itself... Anyway - here's a quick look back at 1988 in terms of football, music, TV and radio! If you like the video - head on over to our Facebook and Twitter pages to give it a share and get fans reminiscing as well as promoting what should be a great fun day added to what we hope is the start to a great month for Chester in the league. Don't forget to get involved on Twitter with the CFC Fan Engagement Working Group to be in with the chance of winning some retro audio prizes we're giving away - CFC Fan Engagement on TwitterTomorrow we're also going to announce what we're doing at BuyCleverStuff in the run up to Christmas to help Chester FC - both fans and the club - when buying online with us. We hope it's something everyone can appreciate and as a local business who has wanted to try to help this year with the flood damage, we hope it can go a little bit further mid-season and at Christmas!
