Striker Mani Dieseruvwe has returned to Salford City after completing his month-long loan here. In all fairness he didn’t offer too much for us as he missed quite a few sitters and just never got going.

The only thing that I thought may have prompted us to seek an extension was our lack of options. Aside from that, he offered us nothing in the end.
I did wonder if playing him in a central midfield role may have suited him more.

He came to us with a reputation for failing to score. He lived up to his reputation. Didn’t understand taking him on at the time, and still don’t. By all means gamble on occasions, like bringing someone up the pyramid, but this wasn’t such a case.

I think you insult Marcus Richardson by comparing him to Mani Dieseruvwe.

Is it just me who thought he was alright? Couldn't hit a barn door, granted, but put himself about and kept defenders busy, possibly freeing up more space for the likes of Mooney and Mahon.

He has something about him and was tricky at times but seemed more effective coming off the bench. We needed an option at the time, and he cost us nothing so there's no harm done. He'll never score goals though, and ultimately we need someone up top with Dudley who can chip in.

I think you insult Marcus Richardson by comparing him to Mani Dieseruvwe. Big Marcus did a job in a team which had Lowe and Blundell if memory serves but he was a bit bambi on ice at times, he was all limbs which is why Mani reminded me of him.

Marcus scored some important goals. Scored in the 3-0 FA Cup mauling of Nottingham Forest. And scored the first in the 2-2 Cup draw at Cheltenham when we came back from 2-0 down, scenes in that away end! Thought he got a lot of undeserved stick.

Also scored against one of his old clubs, Lincoln City to put us 1-0 up, but unfortunately we lost 3-1 due to a rooky GK having a mare.

By all means bring in a lower pyramid striker who scores, but he didn’t.

what lower pyramid player you getting for free? Accept could have played LMH but Mani has played 20-30 games at this level and many more above.

Not to mention that the youth lads have been playing in the FA Cup and doing themselves proud so it might be that until that run ended that we wouldn't use them unless we really needed to. Perhaps we may see LMH used more from now on, especially that physically he seems quite well suited rather than the likes of Murray and Brown who are unfortunately lacking in that area.

The first away game I took my lad to, just looking back on that reminded me of three things.
Marcus was a massive class above Mani The referee was dreadful What happened to that away kit, really liked that.

Went to that game! Just remember equalising at the end, then a drab loss in the replay. That would of been Newcastle on tv

Leamington were very lucky to go through 2-1. GK Tony Breedon should have been sent off for handball outside area. Outstanding player for me was Witton striker James Foley. Anybody heard of him?

I loved Rico, he was great fun but in terms of ability he'd have a great shout of making our worst ever players compilation. One of those players who somehow bagged 6 goals a season despite hardly being able to kick a ball. Great memories for a few months under Keith Curle.

Richardson was like Pele compared to the likes of Hobson and Crapley. To call him one of the worst players is very unfair. I've been watching Chester for years and I can name a hundred worse players than Richardson. Granted he will probably be known as a lower league journeyman but the likes of Hobson, Rapley etc were light years behind in terms of ability. I'm sure he was the driving force in that comeback against Darlington which ended 4 - 4. He played like a man possessed to get the point. He gave it 100% and was a good variation on the trinity of Branch, Blundell and Lowe who were hugely skillful players.

Hobbo scored against the scum and Rappers scored our first goal back in the league at Notts County. Both legends. The only thing Hobson did in two and a half years. How he kept getting contracts was beyond belief. However, with Burr and McCarthy in charge you expected ridiculous decisions like that. Rapley was an embarrassment to the shirt. Anyone could have scored that tap in. In fact I'd give that goal to Daryl Clare because he deserved that honour rather than that clown Rapley. Didn't Rapley offer Chester fans at Bristol Rovers a fight once on a cold Tuesday night?
