That’s good news ^ Despite the age of the CBs if we retained the current back 4 (with Matty Waters and James Jones in reserve) and sorted the goalkeeping issue out then that’s a set up that feels like it could sustain us whether we make it to the NL or not. James Jones is a must keep. Reminds me of a young George Horan.

Good to hear. He doesn’t get spoken about a lot on here which can only be a good thing, as he has been one of our biggest unsung heroes in my opinion. Kevin has been one of our most consistent players, and his block to keep our lead intact at Guiseley was a particular standout moment. Wrexham’s loss, our gain! All the best Kevin!

He’s getting over his silly move to Salford and waste of a year. See him back a year.
As for Roberts he’s a solid, dependable 7/10 and you need some of those. We got done by this clause with Halls and James, and I didn’t think we would do this again but happy with Roberts staying for another year.

He has all the tools to be a decent centre back still has things to improve which includes passing forward instead of backwards and side wards, should come with confidence the more games he plays.

I think he is instructed to do this, as everything goes to Grand or Griffiths. Beggars belief sometimes as neither of them has decent distribution despite Grand thinking he is Steven Gerrard. Still only 20, got a lot more development to come from him. The move to Salfords u23s was poorly advised, but if we could pick him up on a free from them he will be a great asset.

Yes, absolutely crazy to take the opportunity of a full time wage with a team at a higher level and on the up. Will these ambitious kids never learn?

A teenager just starting out in the game moving for dollar over development? Not for me. He wasn't just moving for dollar though was he. Those full time wages came with full time training with full time professionals which, I assume in his eyes, would constitute a chance to learn and develop further? Obviously it doesn't look like it's worked out for him that way but I don't blame him for giving it a chance.

Jones has done well when called upon this season and chipped in with a fair few goals. Would be great to see him here next season.

Imagine moving to a better club at 18. If only Christians Ronaldo had stayed at Sporting instead of moving to Man Utd he might have been a good footballer!

Chuckle^
I think we are all agreeing that JJ would be a good addition for next season. I think Morgan would be as well. He’s always brought something to the party when he’s played and getting sent off is something he needs to get out of his game but at least it’s because he’s trying so hard rather than just malicious.

Difference is he actually played for Manchester United. No difference at the time of their respective signings. Hindsight, of course, is a wonderful thing. I certainly respect and understand the lad for giving it a go. I’m glad he’s back and wish him all the best. Would love to see another young ex-Chester centre back return from Salford!

If you was offered the money he’s getting at Salford at his age you’d take it especially when he joined a club he’s more likely to progress as a player it’s a no brainier why would he stayed at our sinking ship at the time ?

James Jones. Adequate cover. Not good enough as a starter for a side wanting promotion. His goals are papering over the shortfalls of his game defensively and that's what I'm going to judge a centre half on. We can get better.

Bit harsh ^
Don’t think anyone is saying he’s a starter. I think they are saying that he has potential which if realised would be a good investment for the club - esp given the age of our current CBs and the need for a bit of succession planning for seasons to come.

I sort of agree I sort of disagree he's been a lot better than grand recently but is only young and does have shortcomings

No sign of a keeper coming in for Saturday then ? I'm surprised that there hasn't been a signing yet. If Griffiths makes an error earlydoors then I can see the atmosphere turning toxic. He needs to be taken out of the firing line, not just for the club's sake but also for his own.
