Fairly happy with this, but if Livesey also signs, then I think we are going to need a much quicker young central defender as another option.

Great signing as long as we play him at centre back.

You would think so . We’ve already got on board options at full back without the new recruits which will eventually come on board

On the whole I'm pleased with this news as I thought that Simon was solid enough for us last season, and he always offered encouragement from the stands whenever injured. As someone else has pointed out though we really need to sign a younger defender now, because one of our problems was mobility last season. I’d love us to bring back Livesey, but as long as we bring in somebody who is a bit younger then we should be fine in that department. All the best Simon!

Whilst like many I am happy with those that have been retained conversely they constitute 80% of the preferred line up that let us down so badly after xmas and were being slagged of by many on DC ? Confused.com 😁

Pretty non plussed about retaining Grand. Got pretty board of watching him hoof it up the pitch in an entirely speculative way. Even with target me next season I’d like to see the ball come out through midfield once in a while.

I know Howson has gone but I think our defence, which was bloody awful last season, needed a wholesale revamp.. I'm half expecting Shenton to be the next signing..

Based on the fact we missed the play offs by just the three points. With 5 or so quality additions we should have more than enough to compete in a league which will probably not be quite as strong as it was this season. We missed out this term because of far too many key injuries which crippled us ultimately. Additional training sessions should provide more in terms of fitness and hopefully help reduce injuries.

Pretty underwhelmed so far, and still waiting to be convinced in regard to the duo’s scouting network. Early days so still optimistic( we’ll, hopeful at least). My target was minimally the play-offs, so three points away may as well have been 23. Crap defence and all need changing. Too slow, too old or just not at this level. Last thing I want is for continuity with what we had.

Certainly not changing the subject either. We have had a retained list since the end of the season, along with numerous players invited back for training, and now certain signings are taking place. I merely expressed my opinion on the way things have proceeded. I repeat, as yet I am not impressed with what has so far happened.

Grand was probably the best out of the three/four CBs last season. Certainly the most mobile and athletic and the most vocal.
Also scored a lot of goals for a CB.
The only thing that worries me is that it looks like Shenton is going to re-sign. Hundreds of better keepers out there.....

Bernard Morley - “We think we are there with Danny Livesey and Craig Mahon, but in terms of new lads coming in we have agreed terms with an exciting full-back and we’re hoping that goes through in the next few days. There are three players who we are at the stage of putting offers out to and them and their agents seemed happy and we’re expecting to hear back from them on what their decision will be. They are all quality players who we think will significantly improve the squad and that is the market we are in". 'A central midfielder, a goalkeeper, wide options and another striking option are also being sought' - www.cheshire-live.co.uk/sport/football/chester-fc-transfer-targets-morley-16279463

We paid £0 to agents between February 1 2018 and January 31 2019. £27,175 was spent on agents by NLN clubs during that time.
