Not before time that this terrible programme was looked into, and sadly it looks like it's taken the death of a participant for it to happen.
I've always thought that most of the people on it have mental health issues. They don't understand that they're just being made into freak show entertainment, and judged by a man with a less than glorious past himself.

What happened?

It's not yet confirmed, but the programme has been suspended and the episode the person was on is being investigated, so reading between the lines it sounds like they suspect that whatever happened on the programme had something to do with the death.

Read an interview with the man's ex this morning where she said everyone on the programme was great and she didn't blame them for what happened, and that she still believes he cheated on her because of the lie detector test. This is the problem - these people don't understand that this isn't how counselling is done.

I know enough to know that making people look stupid on national TV isn't going to help.

In your OP you state that the programme was sub standard etc etc and yet you clearly give facts about the show which suggests to me that you are one of Jezza’s regular million punters.

I have seen it, although not for a while and not much of it. Enough to know how it works. And yes, it's a fair point that that makes me part of the problem.

Dispatches ran a great program on this the other night, you can catch it up on All 4 if you missed it.
I was always under the impression polygraphs were around 95% accurate, which is why we dont use them in our justice system, it seems by the expert on the program they are around 70% accurate.
Some of the antics used by the research team is also quite shocking.
