Hypothetically, let's say we get £150k for him. Realisticlly how much of this will be given to JM for next season? Discuss

20k will go to cover the loss we've made this year. Some will probably be used for improved contracts to some of this year's players. I'm not sure how much the players do get paid, but 90k should pay for 3 quality players provided we can beat off competition from the likes of Tranmere, Wrexham, Macc, Barrow, Fylde etc.

The loses from last would be covered and the rest would probably be split over the next coming years wor the of budgets. Can't blow it on one season as we will be in the same boat as now making a loss on the season in a couple of years. So would guess the board my look to keep the same budget for the next 3/4 years. Without a sale of a player or cup run we aren't clearing enough money.

Unless he can reverse our appalling record over the past 3 months I think some of the money will be used to pay McCarthy off at the end of the year. I'm not necessarily saying I think he should be dismissed, I'm saying what I think will happen.

I'm not necessarily saying I think he should be dismissed, I'm saying what I think will happen. Imagine getting 100k for Hughes and spending half of it paying a manager off his current deal. I think that would be a huge mistake given that he's probably the only former youth player we will sell for any decent money over the next few years, unless we find another gem, which doesn't happen often. Would like to see JM given the opportunity to have a slightly better budget and see who he can bring in to improve us. 100k is possible 4-5 players at this level, or 3 quality additions.

The money from Hughes should be invested in a modern community training facility. This can enhance the reputation of the club and also bring in income on a daily basis. It's important that the money is put to good use for the future of the club.

£150k? ? youjesters are in cookoo land, £25k tops As little clubs like ours and yours are easy targets for getting crapped on, you may be right. The fact that we rejected an offer of £75k and a host of clubs are after him will, I hope, work in our favour. We will have to wait and see but if you read the OP he did say it was a hypothetical figure.

When the lad has been brought through a youth system running on goodwill and volunteers then surely a portion of the funds should be used to improve and strengthen what we have? A Chief Scout / Talent ID person is also needed if we are to continue to sign young players for development and future sale. Currently we seem to be signing any stray who turns up at training regularly, and then sticking them in the stands rather than playing them.

If and when Sam moves to another club is it worth considering getting players on loan as part of the deal or a friendly game ? Also are there any other good lads in youth team ready to be blooded into first team ?

James Jones is a really tall centre-half and could possibly turn into a Sam Hughes.

Macarthy rambles on and on at every interview he gives, all the good things about Chester but never once has he critised the same players when he has obviously seen that some of them are not up to the job.by ignoring the fans views he is in danger of the crowd dropping even further in numbers ,unless he gives us some encouraging news about what he can do in getting some decent players in for next seasons squad and get rid of some of the deadwood ,he may as well the lights out and shut the door on the way out.

Discuss I just hope that whatever we get for him we make sure there is an "add on" clause so we can keep earning in the event that he turns into a top player or even a decent journeyman at Championship level (even they fetch a couple of million these days). The Goats up the road always seem to be harping on about what they'll get if Taylor, Ward and some other ex-players are sold on. Going on to the subject of what JM will get to spend - hopefully nothing as he wont be here!
