45 minutes against ten men to save our league status - won't get a better chance. I have seen some negative posts on here but this one takes the biscuit.

Great win. Let's get off Macca's back. Mid table is great with our budget.

That was a carbon copy of Bromley on a better pitch. Second best for much of the game, even against ten men but we hung in there and nicked it. Hughes again was the stand out performer...he's getting better all the time. Some of the the lads look like they are running on empty .. Alabi has been great this season but seems to have lost his spark and we offered very little up front. Astles was solid as usual and thought Hunt had a tidy game. Not a classic but job done.

Why not just say a great win and leave out the negative comment I think people forget sometimes that teams don't go down to 10 men for no reason. A red card is part of what happens in a game, just like goals, throw ins, corners and everything else, and usually they happen because you've got the better of the other team in some way. Today's red card was because of a foul on Alabi when he was clean through, wasn't it? So if the foul hadn't happened, there's a decent chance we'd have gone 1-0 up anyway.

As the sun goes down in Jerez here in Spain it's great to hear this news of another win that secures our safety!

Agree, Torquay did well with ten men and it was a bit of a lucky win for us, certainly didn't deserve to lose though in my opinion. I was worried when hearing the team news. Thought Torquay were over the top moaning about the ref, some dodgy decisions as you just have to expect. Nowhere near as bad as they were making him out to be. Thought Matty Waters did really well for us.

Why not just say a great win and leave out the negative comment Why leave out the 10 men comment?  Surely that was relevant to any assessment of the game. If you know anything about football you'll know that sometimes going down a man can galvanise a team, and bossed by somebody like Nicholson even more so. It's not a given then ten men are easier to beat. Or nine men All hail St Milner

Why not just say a great win and leave out the negative comment Why leave out the 10 men comment?  Surely that was relevant to any assessment of the game. They didn't start with 10 men. They went down to 10 men because they took out one of our players who was through on goal. The red card arguably stopped us going 1-0 up a lot earlier than we did.

Nobody’s mentioned that Altrincham have been relegated, so watch out Southport, life won't be easy in the Conference North when you drop out of our league. It will be a shame to lose another local derby in Southport.

I said we won't get a better chance - and, indeed, we took it. Great win today which has pretty much ensured our Conferencr status for another year. Three successive clean sheet victories away from home this year is good going. I can't put my finger on why we have been so woeful at the Deva since Christmas other than somewhat of an air of gloom between the terraces and the pitch. Not sure how to address it at "our" end because it's not as if there's a hum of negativity straight from the kick off. That normally arrives after a poor first half display on the field.

seen the goal floating around on facebook and it was a cracker hit it sweet to
we go again next week i certainly think we will beat york if we can produce the spirit in th2 2nd half up there

Taken from the Torquay forum
If I had to watch Chester every week I'd give up football. A dreadful, petty, boring, cheating bunch of toe rags. Their centre back fatboys didn't look anywhere good enough, but we didn't test them enough as ever.
Combined with bad luck (the goal was a joke) and the worst referee I have seen for a very long time (his Lino pal on the pop side was a useless tosser too) today was not our day. 100% for effort, but you need more than that. Chester have clearly been to the Steve Evans FairPlay football school, we have never matched that cheating mean spirited approach in all the time I have been a Torquay fan. Perhaps we can develop a mean streak for the last five games, it does seem to pay off.

We done to Mcarthy and the lads, maybe getting lots of stick this week has fired them up ? Should be safe now , can we now sort home form out 1 draw and 7 defeats from 8 yet 3 away wins on spin ? Big mention to our away support which is amongst best in league 182 fans is incredible given distance ! Boreham wood only drew 350 ish for a home game !
