As you may be aware, our Under 19s host Hartlepool United in the inaugural National League Academies Cup on Monday evening. The game takes place at the Deva with a 7pm kick off. Admission is free but donations are encouraged at the turnstile.
The National League Academies Cup is a brand new competition open to clubs in the National League, National League North and National League South, regardless of what level their Youth Team play at. The competition is divided into a Northern section and a Southern section before progressing to a National Final. The competition rules state that all fixtures must be played at First Team venues during midweek.
Hartlepool United have Kindly agreed to an evening kick off to allow us to utilise the opportunity to maximise the crowd to make this a special night for our players. Equally, this is a real fundraising opportunity for the Academy. We have been forced to spend over £2.5k on transport in the previous five away draws and night's like Monday give us an opportunity to raise some funds towards running the Academy programme. Don't underestimate the financial challenges in running the Academy and opportunities like Monday can become imperative in providing funds to boost the work that we do and meet ever rising costs.
There is hospitality available in the Legends Lounge, arranged by the Senior Blues Youth Foundation, available for £15 per head. All funds raised through the hospitality will go towards the Senior Blues Youth Foundation.
It would be superb to once again see a big crowd on to support our Youngsters in a brand new National competition. The entire Academy from U9s through to U18s will be in attendance. The nature of an Under 19 competition means that our First Year Academy Graduates that were signed in the summer and have been out on loan are all eligible on Monday evening. Hopefully there will be a big crowd to support the event and hopefully raise some much needed funds towards the Youth Academy.
