How much did that Newport fan put into the club when he won the lottery? Seem's like a fat lot of good that did.Spending what you have wisely is the most important issue.
Tony Durkin sponsored most if not all match day programmes aswell didnt he?

I think in our case if a fan won euro millions and decided to put a wodge of cash into the club the only sensible way would be as a no strings attached donation and then allow the fans to democratically decide how it was spent. I think some interesting questions arise though: 1. If a fan was willing to put say £5m in then would CFU members allow them to own an enhanced stake in the club (i.e. more than the rights an individual CFU member gets) in return if that was the deal for the money going in? Personally I wouldn't vote that through. Loads of CFU members already give more than the membership and currently get no enhanced rights in terms of ownership. 2. If that £5m was a one-off donation to CFU with no strings attached, then would those who don't want to be CFU members now be tempted to join to have some input over how the £5m got spent?

OK some interesting replies but the difference in a genuine long term fan taking a stake with a substantial input with the club at heart should not be compared to mad Americans property developers and gangsters - look what Wigan achieved under a true fan chairman - do you honestly think I would just make crazy decisions on my own I would involve CFU in every decision - but as I said for serious investment I would expect part ownership and would happily accept 49% now let me get them tickets

I don't think we'd ever take the risk as it stands now.

If I won a lot on the Euro millions, i'd donate a chunk to the club but would want a say and full involvement on what it was spent on. (Eg Disabled viewing area, playing budget, youth team, training pitches, ground improvements etc)
I also wouldn't give it in a lump sum to avoid it being wasted. I'd spread it out over years with say £100k a season.
Definitely wouldn't expect a seat on the board or a say in the say to day running of the club.

Oh OK Border Collie yawn let's talk about Maccas lost it again then And you've proven again exactly why you shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the club. You'd be as bad as that Cellino at Leeds, constantly hiring and firing managers!

My first decision as chairman would be to ban Al from coming within 500 yards of the turnstiles - I would sack Macca on day 2 I would only sign up 6 of the current squad and try to tempt John Askey from Macclesfield with an offer he can't refuse - I would give him a 1 year deal - I would extend the Blues Bar with a substantial social club serving food and fine ales and would expand and the Harry Mac doubling the capacity and maybe put seats in - estimated initial cost 1.5 million then feed the club over a 10 year plan - but the most important improvementioned would be to ban Al- now let me get them tickets

If i won the lottery, id put money into the club but i would never feel the need to have ownership of the club. Id want to stay in the harry mac watching the team as a normal fan. First thing id do is lower the ticket prices and ensure we could afford it.
