Such terrible news. Gary was a brilliant servant to our club, even when he was battling illness. Cancer is so cruel. RIP Gary and I am sure that you will get the send off you truly deserve. Fly that blue flag high đ!

Such sad news although I have known for a while Gary was unwell it still a great shock to lose a club legend, the passing of Gary and Matin Peters within 24 hours of each other is terribly sad, two men who were great footballers and even greater gentleman. I would like to pass on my condolences to Gary's family and friends at this difficult time. God bless Gary RIP

A very sad today hearing the news of Gary's passing.
I fondly remember the support from Gary as a former player when were uniting the fans under the CFU umbrella. He gave us so much inspiration and helped us achieve our aim of bringing back the club to the fans, something he always wanted to see given they had been so supportive of him.
I'll always be very envious of everyone that saw him in action, but thankful that I managed to get to know him more over the last couple of decades and was so deserving of the Vice President status and having the lounge named after him.
My thoughts and sympathies are with Christine and his family at this time, and I will of course raise a glass to Sir Gary this Christmas.
Rest in Peace, Chester Legend.

Obviously his playing days ended decades before I was even born but in my few experiences in and around the LL I found him an incredibly friendly, warm man and it was great that we had a role for him to play upstairs.
Heâll be greatly missed.
Rest In Peace, Gary.

Didn't know him personally but he's given me some wonderful memories of seeing him play, the 5 minute hat trick against Crewe in the cup, the header off one leg in the 6-1 defeat of Wrexham, the famous five 20 goals a man season and many more. Very sad news.

What many of our younger fans won't know is that Gary was recruited by one of the first black managers in the UK..a lovely man Peter Hauser who signed Gary part time after a charity game and then full time.Gary was a photographer and married Miss Wales...but guess what smoked like a trooper but never changed. Saw him score 3 goals in 5 minutes v Crewe and ballooned chance over bar v Man United at Old Trafford in 1964/65 He fully supported ISA and CFU. Part of Famous 5 never to be forgotten.

Really devastating news about Gary's death. A true chester great, lovely man. Always had time to chat to anyone who he met. I feel really upset. I watched Gary as a child in the 60s great player and will be sadly missed by everyone at Chester and the wider football community RIP Gary

Very sad news. Gary was a true Chester FC legend not only for his football exploits but just as much for the person he was, friendly, warm and a gentleman. Never saw him play but did have the pleasure of meeting him on numerous occasions. RIP

âOne Gary Talbot, thereâs only one Gary Talbot!â Sadly Chester is missing a true hero. Condolences to his family. I just wondered if the club plan something to commemorate Gary at our next home game? maybe apart from a minutes silence/applause maybe the team could play in the retro 1964/65 kit? it could be auctioned after the match to raise funds...unless something else has been organised
