Well done Rio. As has been said, you are a terrific supporter and never let anyone dim your enthusiasm. I first started going shortly before England won the World Cup in 1966 and the obsession has never left me. Sadly the 1885 Arena is probably the worse new build since the Taylor Report. Many of the new grounds since 1989 have been a significant improvement on what they replaced; sadly, you cannot say that about the 1885 Arena, which is badly designed. It is thirty years ago this month since Chester left Sealand Road. It has never quite been the same since, although Sealand Road was far from perfect. However, despite all the many faults of the current stadium, there is still nowhere else I would rather be at three o'clock on a Saturday afternoon. Hopefully it won't be too many months before we're all watching the next game there.

Nice read Rio.
Back in 1960 when I went to my first match it was more difficult to get to away matches.
I do remember catching the bus outside what was the library for a coach.
Wish I could remember where my first away match was without trawling the records.
I do remember going to a 5-4 win at Stockport though. Happy days.

Ah the good old days of jumping on a George Taylor coach to the away matches in those wonderful days. I too remember the game at Stockport when we won as you say 5-4 in a night match. At the end of the game I was over the wall on the pitch getting a piggy-back from hat-trick hero ‘King’ Gary Talbot.

Yes you are definitely a credit to our club.An excellent read and long may your enthusiasm continue.Think my first away match was in the great 64-65 season when our family went on a coach to Barnsley for a 2nd rd FA cup match which we blitzed them 5-2.Of course the second away match was Man Utd when we were robbed of victory by two offside goals.

Great read Rio reminds me of my youthful days at Sealand Rd and catching the Terry Vickers coach to as many away days as possible. It's a bug that won't go away so I'm afraid my boy you're stuck with it for life, you never know though I'm sure there will be another 74/75 season for you to witness and savor just as us old wrinklies have. Keep up the great work and you never know you may even become Chester FCs Media Officer in the future anyway good luck in whatever career you eventually pursue.

We were 4-1 up at one stage but allowed them to get back to 4-4 (I think I was about to burst in tears) but we grabbed a last minute winner (yes probably the late, great Gary Talbot).

Anyone else a member of the 8-2 club
Peterborough back in early 1970s and March 2016 v Aldershot.
There can't be many. I think the Aldershot game only drew about 1,300.

I was in attendance for the latter. For some reason we have a habit of producing crackers at home on a Tuesday night. That Aldershot game, amongst last gasp wins against FC Halifax Town on TV, Wrexham, Barrow, and more recently King’s Lynn Town spring to mind.

Almost H was at the Peterborough game and the next one which was also v Aldershot which iirc we won that 4-2. I listened to the Aldershot game on Seals live if that counts

What annoyed me about the most recent 8-2 was that we took Alabi off with 20 to go. He was so hot that night if he's stayed on we'd have won 11-2.

We do well in front of low home crowds full stop, we've only lost 5 of the lowest 27 home league crowds since we reformed. Aldershot is 6th lowest at 1,425.
Yes I'm sad enough to keep track.

Yes I'm sad enough to keep track. Not sure what’s more impressive; the stat, or the fact you know it.
