No-one was saying this squad wasn't good enough during the 17 match unbeaten run. For a start we haven't been on a 17 match unbeaten run this season, you must be mistaken

And I also said, with some notable exceptions and that there was a chronic lack of firepower and creativity. read my post fully!

Why not just stop going then? Why make such a drama of it? Let's none of us express our opinions then. Mind you it'll make for a pretty quiet board. Not at all, I'm engaging with him. I'm asking him a question. I'm asking him whether it's worth ranting like that and basically calling fellow supporters 'fools' when he could just quietly decide that enough' enough. That's how an argument works. You seem to think that not only should everyone be able to moan their arse off on here, but nobody should be allowed to challenge it either. For what it's worth, I think he answered my question quite well.

No-one was saying this squad wasn't good enough during the 17 match unbeaten run. Unfortunately, as Jon himself says himself , we have to judge him and the squad over the whole season. We had a brilliant purple patch in Autumn which helped achieve the main objective of avoiding relegation. But the start of the season into September wasn't great, and form/performances have been alarmingly awful for nearly 5 months with only a handful of games to go. Is the squad good enough to go forward without significant change ? I feel the answer to this should be obvious.

I was expecting us to get hammered but listened to the excellent Blueslive and it did sound like we had a go, but i just feel that we are carrying too many players who aren't good enough and relying on the likes of Hughes, Alabi, Lloyd and Astles week in week out is taking its toll.
If we even had one other half decent striker then it would have helped a lot imo, but Macca was naive to think that we could reply on Alabi and Richards as our only forwards for pretty much two thirds of the season after Akintunde got injured.
What was the point in signing Marsh or Davis if he isn't going to give them a go?
I expect FGR will beat us, but i dread to think what the LVS will be like if we lose to Woking on Tuesday!

Just listened to the excellent Blues Live commentary of this game. It was enjoyable, critical, positive, balanced. Particularly impressed listening to the brilliant Imps supporters who were right behind their team. Then, rather stupidly I thought I would check out the thoughts on this thread. Overwhelmingly negative, abusive, and self centered. Dispiriting place.... Thank you Paw for your kind words, as for the game it was a wonderful atmosphere at Sincil Bank, and credit to Jon and the lads they played very well against a very good Lincoln side who were excellent in defence. Huge credit to the blues who although eventually lost the game they (unlike) most sides this season kept themselves in the tie and very nearly spoiled the Lincoln party. The crictism on here is unbelievably harsh and not fair. As for Blues Live, Matty will be back on Friday as we make the trip to Forest Green.

One of the biggest and most glaringly obvious things with this side is the lack of competition upfront and that's been the case pretty much all season. Akintunde should have been covered by a loan signing , Richards shouldn't have been relied on as Alabi's sole strike partner. It's not just because of tonight , but if Macca keeps saying he's improving , next season he could be , unfortunately we've neede someone now , someone who could help Alabi and even give him a breather.

Watched JM's post-match interview and it's another strange one. He and Neil Turner have a strange little relationship whereby Jon seems overly offended by everything and Neil is almost embarrassed to do his job and question him. Very odd.

Lincoln were very average hardly worked Lynch at all.Effective at what they do but not a great side. We had a couple of chances one cleared off the line from Alibi and Durrell long range effort in last min. Similar to last 3 away games to be fair, Not many chances at Southport,Bromley or Torquay but like those games fairly solid at the back. Whatever McCarthy said in post match interview Joyce did make mistake that ultimately cost us the game.

Calm down dear it was a better result than I expected tonight but it's the little things that frustrate like 1 shot on target and inability to make extra man count and another sending off for the hot head Richards and more worrying another post Christmas defeat - I admit slightyou better showing but I won't be driving around Chester with my sunroof down sounding the horn

Two big chances. We had our moments, but we are a bit blunt up front as you'd expect with the injuries.

I am sick and tired of reading the negativity on much of both this thread and, tbh, this forum. People seem to get the right of free speech and the desire to make abusive comments mixed up. You can be critical without being rude and defamatory to individuals. Social media allows people to say things to and about other individuals that are simply unacceptable. If you are a Chester fan support the team. Negativity, as opposed to criticism, will always lead to failure. Seems to me that is what some posters want.

What's happened to Chapell? Last i heard is that he fractured his cheek bone, but you see players playing with that injury all the time wearing protective facemasks. Given that he will be taking a decent wage and our serious lack of options up front, then I'd like to think that we'd try and get him back playing asap.

I was there tonight and thought at times we played really well. We just cant keep possession for long enough and we make silly mistakes - trying to be clever instead of putting the ball in the box. I was disappointed with Richards but think Jon should have made a change much earlier.
On paperweight should have been hammered so 1-0 isn't an awful result but we need to do really sort ourselves out for next season

Full time 1-0 Lincoln, another frustrating night. Our tactics sounded stupid for the second half. Fair play though we played quite well to keep the score down. Can't wait for Forest Green on Friday although we might not win. Good grief Rio, not a negative comment from you

JM just doesn't like anyone pointing out the glaringly obvious. Neil Turner tries to do that in a round-a-bout way and some on here have been pointing out his failing as well. Rather than proving he can manage and get results, he takes to awkwardly trying to take his critics on. It only makes him look and sound like a complete buffoon. Win some games of football and the questions and comments will go away - it's quite that simple.

Just got back home to Sheffield, one perk of living close to Lincoln!
Anyway the game was really weird to be honest, Lincoln started so well and Arnold was tearing us a new one down the wing with some nice pace and a couple of cut backs nearly resulting in goals. We grew into the game with a decent first half from Luke George of all people but offered little going forward. Joyce, who was like someone we'd selected at random from the park, made a stupid mistake which lead to their opener and to be honest, he is about as much use at wing back, as I am on karaoke.
Second half, played alright but similar pattern of them winning second balls and free kicks around half way and lumping long balls up towards Rhead. The sending off came next and to me it looked harsh, but gave us a chance! We had free kick in a great area to get a ball into the box, so Lloyd does the sensible thing and tries a slip ball down the wing and goes straight out of play, summed up out game that far. All of a sudden a ten minute spell of pressure for the blues, Alabis shot cleared off the line and some solid pressure with Lincoln camped in their half. Then Richards gets sent off for a one footed late challenge that deserves a yellow, because the ref had the Cowleys going berserk and players surrounding him. Game over.
Positives - George and Durrell were pretty lively today, with Hughes solid at the back.
Negatives - Joyce. May raise a few eyebrows with this ones but Alabi doesn't seem fit...something didn't seem right with him today he often lost battles and didn't look sharp, just my opinion.

Neil Turner pointed out to Macca that it was a mistake my Joyce that proved costly but Macca refused to blame him saying that Joyce had an outstanding game.
I find the post match interviews between Neil and Jon quite amusing really because they are so awkward. To be fair Neil only says what we are all thinking, but Macca gets really defensive and really doesn't do himself any favours at times.

"Yep we've been poor recently and it's not good enough - my players need to prove to me they deserve a new contract" - not point out about 6 times how they've done what wa expected of them. Show some steel and admit things haven't been good enough.
