Just been reading on the Leicester fans forum that they don’t think Sam will be offered a new deal this would come as a bitter blow to us as we always lived with the hope that he would make it at Leicester or get a good move to make us some money. The back injury Sam picked up prior to his second season seems to have set him back and he has not got back to the same level as that first season, it would be a step back for Sam but a move down the league’s might Kick start his career as we know he has all the tools to play at Championship level at least.

Great shame as he was highly thought of here and also fans liked him. However he can hopefully still be good enough at L1 or Championship level. Such a fine line divides very top level to also rans...

This is Chester we’re talking about, so it’ll be just our luck that he gets released, goes to a lower level Championship/top level League One club, smashes it and gets a multi million pound move in a couple of years.

Always felt it may have been better for us if he’d gone to a league 1 or championship club. It’s so hard to break in at premier league clubs. I still think he’ll go on and have a decent career. Could well see go to a top league 1 club do well and then step up again.

I can see him being at somewhere like Tranmere next season. Either way, I hope it works out for him.

It would have been so easy for Leicester to have released him so they must have confidence in him which augurs well for us. Here’s hoping anyway.

This is fabulous news for Sam and us Rogers must see the promise we always knew he had, needs some game time now to prove what he can do.

Pleased for Sam. He deserves a change of fortune after his injury problems.

Considering they're on course to play in the Champions League next season, it bodes well that they want to keep him.

I rate he’ll go out on loan to league 1 or championship to get some game time then be eased into the team Pre season could be big for him I suppose

Perhaps now is the time to negotiate the sell on clause. 100k now for a reduced % could be handy

Suspect it's simply so they can get a fee should they sell him rather than seeing him having a long term future with them. Either way, great news for us.

Always thought this lad could play Championship level. Needs to keep himself fit and push on. Maybe go out to a Championship club on loan.

For anyone who is interested in this sort of trivial detail, Sam Hughes also has a real head on the new FIFA game.

"We'd be struggling without Sam Hughes - what an astute signing he's been" - quote from Burton forum. Obsessing over his progress and we have a bit of a vested interest!

Sad news that Sam has suffered a bad knee injury and is out for the rest of the season he has been doing very well at Burton and has been the backbone of their defence since he went there, just read that Burton were going to approach Leicester about making an offer for Sam to sign on a permanent deal which would if it went ahead have given us a few quid as well.

It's a bugger in a way that he signed for a Premier League club, and one who have been a top half to Europa League positioned one in recent years. It might have been better for us if he had signed for someone like Burton, played for them regularly and then gone on from there.

Gutted for Sam. He seems to beset by injuries. Hopefully he will bounce back.

Possible that a transfer might happen in the future. This from Jake Buxton: "We had been in dialogue with Leicester about possibly taking him on a permanent deal and the chairman was fully in support of making that happen. "Unfortunately, that now can't happen in the next window but it's something we would still look to do in the future as we believe Sam is a good player."

The problem for us is Sam will be out of contract at the end of the season so if Leicester decide not to offer him a new deal which does look likely as he will have come back from a long term injury, which will mean Burton or anyone else could pick him up for free and we would get a percentage of zero😔
