Reading the vast majority of posts regarding both the playing and non-playing sides of the club and feeling the "vibe" at games, I'm beginning to wonder whether we've developed an ultra-safe culture within the club both on and off the pitch.
I get the impression that people are reluctant to make decisions for fear of failure (and maybe the ridicule that would invariably follow)
On the field, we see it in the one up front approach, paucity of shots on goal, "defensive" post-match interviews etc etc
Off the field, it might be the lack of/poor recruitment, apparent reluctance to address the attendance issues, much talk but little real action etc etc
In short, has the club "allowed" itself to stagnate through inertia, indeed, almost beginning to regress?
Many years ago, before I retired, I worked for an American IT company where the whole ethos was to encourage people to take risks albeit qualified.
Their mantra was: "If for every 10 decisions you make, you get 7 right and 3 wrong, you're doing a good job because you're pushing forward - if you get 4 right and 6 wrong, then we'll ask questions!"
On the pitch, most fans would applaud and support a manager who, in the right situation, "had a go" even if the result occasionally went against us. Similarly, off the pitch, if fans could actually see positive initiatives at least being tried, again I suspect they would support them.
I accept the constraints - budget, injuries, volunteers etc etc (I think we all do) but other, smaller, clubs seem to be able to do it.
Why can't we?

Fantastic post. The problems are there for all to see....
1. The paid staff are there for an easy job, often doing single figure hours per week and not bothering doing anything but the bare minimum. 2. We have fantastic volunteers who keep the club running, however because of the attitude from the top, they only do the bare minimum, and if challenged then get a huge chip on their shoulder about being challenged, so people feel less inclined to challenge. 3. The only strategy the club has come up with to grow attendances is 'win games and they will come', not so easy in this division.

I think as well, you have to take DC with a seriously bit pinch of salt, maybe even a bag full. It's a bit like Trip Adviser, people only ever go on to whinge their arses off or sing hymns of praise and you have to sieve through all the crap to find a half decent post that you can take anything from.
Another problem JM has, which was a concern when appointed, was that he is always associated to Burr. He's clinging onto that unbeaten run because it's his best as a manager, but he's not exactly coming across well in interviews being super defensive. I think you're right regarding mistakes, he knows that it's a results game and playing 1 up top he seems to be desperate for a point at home at the moment. Not to mention we only have Alabi available for selection next game.
