I get the feeling politicians are told by their advisors to "support" a football team to get some popular culture cred points, and to pick someone like Newcastle or Aston Villa who have big support, yet nobody really has anything against them outside of local rivals. Indeed, David Cameron seemed to forget whether his team was Villa or West Ham!

I don’t know but I like Chester and I hope not , it would be a smear on our city. As far as I m concerned if he ever does want to launch some populist attempt at saying he is a Chester fan he is about as welcome as Stephen Vaughan. He is no compatriot, ally or associate of mine Or my family - some of whom work for the nhs. Whilst I wish him no ill, I do hope he manages to obtain some humility before he leaves our planet.
A footballing equivalent of Matt Hancock as a citizen and polician would be Darren Edmondson. If I was being harsh to Darren Edmondson.

I see him more as hapless than malevolent really. His face has this proper gormless "dog ate my homework" look. His tweeting about the "breakthrough" drug dexamethasone - something many medics have pointed out has been in use for decades - is pathetic.
They're just ridiculous people really aren't they? Some just incompetent, others malicious, but all ridiculous.

The m o did say the drug had been around for decades when it was announced on the updates. He also said they have only just discovered its value in treating people on ventilater. As the virus is new it matters little that the drug is decades old it is what uses they find for it now
