Yesterday marked 201 years since the Conservative Party ordered the murder of men, women and children in Manchester for peacefully demanding the right to vote for working class men.
Rise like lions after slumber In unvanquishable number Shake your chains to earth like dew Which in sleep had fallen on you Ye are many, they are few.

The Conservative party wasn’t actually founded until 1834, so not sure how they ordered anything 15 years before they existed?

The Tories were founded in 1678. Dissolved in 1834 and succeeded by the “Conservative Party” but essentially the same thing.

Have a read of ‘Peterloo - The Manchester Massacre’ by Jacqueline Riding; a superb read. Why this subject isn’t featured within our school history curriculum is beyond me.

The same Tory party that voted against the creation of a National Health Service no fewer than 21 times.......... some things never change.

And they were founded by whom?? Robert Peel. He founded the police not as @ crime fighting force but mainly to protect the assets of the wealthy from being pilfered by the poor. It’s just too easy at times. 😂

It’s just too easy at times. 😂 The law locks up the man or woman Who steals the goose from off the common But leaves the greater villain loose Who steals the common from off the goose The law demands that we atone When we take things we do not own But leaves the lords and ladies fine Who take things that are yours and mine The poor and wretched don't escape If they conspire the law to break This must be so but they endure Those who conspire to make the law The law locks up the man or woman Who steals the goose from off the common And geese will still a common lack Till they go and steal it back
