And people are attacked if they're on the 'glass half empty' side of the fence. Maybe we should all look forward to this season ending and to next season whatever it may bring. Whatever that is, most of us will still love our club - we may just have differing opinions during the highs and lows. |

There's an element of that too maybe, but I think you have to admit that most of the real venom and nastiness is coming from a certain type of poster. |

This forum was needed, and well done to big Si for making it happen, but its turned out to be a winge-fest full of trolls and WUMs hence I rarely post or read it anymore.
Old DC is full of old boys pretending the ships not sinking, and this one is heading in a direction I'm not keen on going - so it looks like neither are viable options. Sad.

There isn't much to be positive at the moment; a team in freefall, a dead head manager, and a CEO who is a dreamer. Roll on the summer, when we can all forget about the football for a few month. |

This one will get better I think, it's still in its early stages. I think what it does show is that you can't really win as a forum moderator. That said, the moderation on the other forum continues to be well over the top. I've now been banned from posting on there. Not sure what I've done after 14 years and more than 20,000 posts on there that's suddenly deemed unacceptable, but I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. |

A lot of the negativity is caused by the current dreadful run of form and frustration at lack of progress off the pitch. That's understandable. What I currently dislike is some personal vendettas against the younger posters - how long have we banged on about getting younger supporters on board yet some folk seen to shout then down for being positive.
What's also needed is a good discussion on guest posting after the season ends. There is plenty of pro's and con's which need to be thrashed out and put to the vote.

This forum was meant to be a breath of fresh air after the stagnant old devachat but it's just as bad. We've gone from darby and joan to kindergarten, neither are an improvement on the other. Reasoned discourse is a dim distant memory I'm afraid.

For me it's simple, all those who regularly post as a guest using the same name just register, it takes 2 mins.
I think we should allow guests to post, but probably worth having a separate forum for guests, so people can choose to look at their posts or not.
That way the main forum isn't full of crap and the people willing to register have their voice wherever they want to post. If they then become abusive it's a simple ban.
We all know the mods here won't turn into hitlers so I think this is the best way

Haha, I remember when I used to be optimistic, it still comes occasionally in waves even now. But after 25 years supporting the blues it's getting harder to be optimistic mate.
But I think it's great to see you guys making an effort to improve the atmosphere it's the only thing bar what's going on on the pitch that will encourage the next generation to bring their mates down.
Looking forward to seeing the difference next season
