We have all played well as a team tbh. Shaw and Hunt have improved massively, Alabi can score goals, Lynch has been superb along with Roberts. The Jon Worsnop era seems ages ago. Also, we have a strong, tall defence too. I would pick Sir Ryan Astles but there are a number of players who can compete for that.

Shaw definitely for most improved.
Astles for me though!

Difficult cos a number have improved hugely this season e.g Shaw who is now the player we thought we'd signed but I'd go for Astles or Alabi who are now the cult figures who epitomise the club. At a push I'd opt for Astles because of his bond with the fans and his all-or-nothing approach. Alabi's time will come if we can keep him

Simply cannot make my mind up between Astles, Alabi or Shaw. Impressed with the performances of many others in the squad too. How nice it is to be able to say that.

Got to be Astles he's hardly had an off day. Since big Chris has come Alabi has been immense for us. As everybody else said, Shaw and Hunt are different players from last season

Astles. Shaw for most improved, now he doesn't have to carry that snake Rooney.

Similar to what someone else has posted, I get the feeling that Astles is bound to be a club legend and captain. He is fantastic at this level but perhaps couldn't cut it at a higher level, so hopefully he commits his future to us because he is already on his way to cult hero status.

It's nice there are so many candidates and compare that with last season when you'd be struggling to name one. For me it has to go to either Astles, Alabi or Shaw.

Loads of replies which is great and varied opinions, I even forgot Durrell.
For me it's close but would edge for Astles who has been outstanding, throw in Alabi, Shaw and Lloyd just below them.

To be honest we have had a few consistent performers so far this season. Shaw, Astles, Hughes, Lloyd and Alabi would all have a chance of picking up the award come the end of the season.

I must be missing something as a few of you are saying Alabi. Yes he's scored some goals but overall I don't actually think he's very good. Wins nothing in the air and only seems to get the bit between his teeth after a goal. For such a unit he should bully defence but it just doesn't happen. Don't get me wrong, I get behind him every game, he just needs to show more for me.

Agree when he is in "Beast Mode" he can be a right handful but when that button is switched off he can be frustrating. It doesn't help that Kane Richards puts more effort into getting in a strop than assisting Alabi up front.

Tom Shaw for me, his energy and desire has been a significant factor in our performances this season, very consistent. Alabi and Astles coming in as joint runners up.

The simple fact is - we would not be currently 10th in the league without Astles this season. I don't think you could say that about anybody else.

Based on the games I have seen I'm not sure I would choose anyone from the midfield as I wasn't sure we had one...except Elliott durell. Astles or possibly lynch or Alabi for me

It's basically Astles or Alabi. Honourable mentions to Hughes and Shaw. Personally I'd give it to Astles.
