I know we've been talking a lot about management and The Board the last couple of weeks so wanted to get some other views.
What should we be looking for over the summer realistically? Forget us scrapping the squad, it honestly won't happen unless we change manager. So realistically what sort of players can make the difference and keep us up again next season?
As an addition, i'm interested to know how many trust JM's recruitment in terms of finding these faces, so i've added a poll.

We need another centre back, a right back, another winger and another striker. That Jamie Allen at Southport wasn't too bad. We need pace to rattle the oppositions defense, Akintunde came on and look at the difference he made.. Kane can also run at a defense but when he gets the ball he is facing the wrong way and loses it FFS! A fourth striker is crucial and if we lose Alabi then we need a good striker signed.
I've certainly slagged off Hudson but I don't think he's too bad, people certainly have some harsh opinions about him, he goes under the radar when he plays well. If we can keep Astles and actually play Hunt, at a left back too, then we will need a permanent right back (can you believe we haven't had a right back in our squad this season bar Vassell who is a centre back/right back, and often injured). Another centre back is key as we can't go a season with just Astles and Hudson as knowing our injury luck they'll be both injured within a game or so next season.
I think Shaw and Dawson are a great pairing in the middle. Dawson often gives the ball away but he's young, still getting up to scratch with football after a long break and will improve for sure. If we could sign Lloyd too, should he get released in the summer, that would be a great addition.
I'd like to see another winger signed to provide competition to Mahon and Durrell - to be honest I think Durrell should be tried as a number 10 as he will get into more shooting positions when central and he has a wand of a right foot capable of something special as we have seen on multiple occasions this season, even recently at Lincoln and Forest Green away he almost scored two screamers when he picked the ball up centrally.

Any players signed this summer need to be over 6 ft tall and strong ! I am sick of seeing our players get outmuscled and knocked off the ball, everybody knows in this league you need sizes and power to be competitive ! An experienced central defender to organise defence at set players and a targetman to cause a nuisance to defenders is a must .

2 or 3 additions who offer significant improvements in quality would do me ... definitely a forward (not sure if we need pace or strength.... would like more time to judge Akintunde) and definitely a wide midfielder to offer competion to Mahon ... i think Dawson has looked OK and Davies might have something for next season.

Couldn't agree more about Allen, a decent player and sure to be on a few clubs radar with Southport down. Geographically, surely we are in with a shout if the offer was right.

We'll definitely need another CB to replace Hughes. Alongside that I can't see Walsall wanting to loan Vassell out to us at the same level for another season so a RB. A winger is a must. I think Alabi will be off in the summer so two strikers needed. This is all assuming we retain the entire squad with the exception of Hughes and Alabi. To throw a few names around that I'd like to see here next season...
Danny Lloyd from Stockport. Left winger who's scored 26 and assisted 19 this season for County. Contract up in the summer. Still a good age at 25 aswell. Has drawn interest from football league and Scotland though but with him being Liverpool based and us potentially getting a few bob for Sam, we could chance our arm and offer him something.
Elliot Rokka from Radcliffe Borough. 21 year old winger/striker who's scored 16 this season in the Evostik North. Was in the Manchester United academy system.
Jordan Preston from Guiseley. Wide midfield who looked dangerous against us in both games. Only 21 and has scored 6 for this season.
Jamie Allen from Southport. Striker who's looked a handful in all games against us but did look like he lacked composure in the league away game that we won 0-1. Surprised to see he's only 21. Scored 10 this season, in a poor side.
Jason Oswell from Newtown. Striker whos scored 22 in 30 this season in a part time team. Place of birth varies online between Northwich and Chester, if it is the latter I'm sure he'd live to pull on the shirt.
Marcus Dinanga from Burton Albion (Loan). 19 year old striker who's scored 24 for Matlock this season. I'm sure Burton will be looking to loan him out again at a higher level.
Greg Draper from The New Saints. 6 ft 3 and 27 years old, could be the experienced target man we have been crying out for since we've been in the conference. Scored 15 in 31 this season and has represented New Zealand at international level.
My knowledge of defenders is a little more limited but would like to see us bring in an experienced CB that can captain the side and a young RB with potential.

We need at least 8 new players, and no crap that wxm don't want either Need 14 new players. Most have had their second chance and not taken it all. There needs a clean sweep as the stench from the Burr era has come back. Only ones to keep are: Lynch (need an experienced number one though) Astles Hunt Mahon Akintunde Alabi Waters I'd like to see Nolan and Allen from Southport come in. Kingsley James might be worth a look at. The released lists need to be looked at very carefully from League 2 and League 1 clubs. The signings of Chappell, George, Richards et al on new deals has had a negative effect and there needs to be sweeping changes. If these changes do not take place there will be no feel good factor at the club in the summer and it will just be the fear of becoming the new Hyde United next season.

Pretty much agree with Arrogant Blue's assessment. I'd keep Shaw though - one who has taken his second chance. I'd possibly keep Killock IF we're confident he can get fit.
If we just offer everyone a contract, it will send out a message that we're the club that will give you a job however little you do, thereby attracting the laziest and most unmotivated players around.

Why no durrell Been our best player all season and only one with any passion He's been missing for most of the season don't you mean. The amount of times he tried a Ronaldinho esque flick or back heel yesterday that found a yellow shirt was laughable. He's been one of the worst performers for me this season, no wonder the goats released him.

You might be the scout we've been begging for! I think TNS have got some great talent, few would definitely get into our side. Problem is we're competing with a side who have European football & are very unlikely not to win a trophy, sadly sounds more attractive than us. What Macca did last summer was sign a core group of players, then bring in roughly 10 trialists to see how they blend, which is how Akintunde was offered a deal. Certainly some talent in the north west, just need to beat the likes of Tranmere, Wrexham & the North-East Welsh sides involved in Europe for their signatures. I would prioritise experience that has already been mentioned in the thread, maybe a few football league drop outs, and hopefully the young lads from the academy such as Waters will be able to learn a few things, certainly have some great potential in the academy.

Some good shouts on here so far.
With Liam Roberts due to head back to Walsall, we need a new back-up keeper, maybe with some national league experience. We need a right back who has pace and who can offer width. An Astles-Hudson partnership hasn't and won't work, so we can do with another tall centre-half who can win headers and can offer some pace with Astles being quite slow. We are sorted at left back. In midfield a Shaw-Dawson partnership will work. It would be great if we sign Lloyd on a PERMANENT deal, if not we could do with someone who can work tirelessly like him. I would like to see Durrell in his preferred no.10 role, where he would have more space to shoot which we have been lacking recently. My big concern is with the lack of strikers however. The first on my list would be a target man who has experience in the national league. No disrespect, but Alabi, Richards and Akintunde are young players but if we had an older head they can learn off them. Ideally, if Alabi departs, at least 2 strikers should be recruited. I like the Jamie Allen idea. Our current situation just says it all. Happy recruiting Macca.

Durrell seems to be the new Rooney and McConville. You either love him or loathe him Personally think he's been one of our best players this season. Not everything he tries comes off but at least he looks to be positive. The goal at Borehamwood was probably the highlight of the season (or at least second behind the Astles equaliser at Tranmere). Also disagree that he goes missing.

Now we just need to ensure they are managed properly!............

I think he may be like McConville; where everyone realises how much we miss him once he leaves (if he did leave, personally I'd keep him) try him as a number 10 though - we can only do that once we have our wingers back though!

Mahon and Akintunde fitness a risk, Waters just a squad player. Basically you are saying start again, which on present form may be understandable, but ultimately a mistake. Young tried this once to often and we were relegated but for a reprise from Hereford. Shaw and Durrell need to stay. Dawson and Davies to early for us to judge. Lloyd second half of the season not that effective. Would be happy with the Lloyd of 2016 though.

I think AGL was trying to suggest that the forum either love or hate him, as many did with Sean Mc at the time. I actually rated Sean but find Durrell a really mixed bag. He has been good the last few games though and i'd like to think next year he could get a bit fitter because against Lincoln he set his own standards constantly chasing down the ball and working up and down the pitch.
