Unsure as to where about Stockport we’re in the league in 2017/18 at this stage of the season; but I do remember heated words took place at their club and then amazingly they went on a run which saw them go up as champions. Now, I’m not saying we will do similar to Stockport - what I am saying is that sometimes, a good old ‘warts n’ all’ discussion can work wonders!!! Fingers crossed. WE as supporters have got to stick together and support OUR club, after all WE owe it our forefathers who at times struggled to set OUR club in motion in 1885. WE also owe it to the work and time that took place during our reformation. At times, during our 130 odd years of history we have been to hell and back and WE will pull through this current situation. This is my 67th season of supporting OUR club, commencing in season 1953-54 - I for one, don’t intend to jump ship!! Stick with it, as this is just another ‘bump in the road’ on our journey.. 11th on 7th October.
You can use custom dates on the table - LinkThat's a good site for history of football results. Thanks for link.

It's the right move, if only for financial reasons. Talk of "a plan" reminds me a bit of Baldrick from Black Adder and I just hope it involves getting to grip with defending. We simply cannot continue leaking an average of two goals a game. I still believe we should get someone in to do some coaching (surely must be someone doing their badges who lives locally or has connections with the club) and start working on phasing in a younger pairing in the middle. Either that or we go a bit more direct from the keeper. Bottom line this will only go away if results improve. I think a parting of ways is inevitable at the end of the season (at the latest) but agree that we need to try to get behind the team and managers. Anything else is counter productive. I just hope that if we go a goal down on Saturday it doesn't turn toxic straightaway. That ain't going to help matters.

A league is won over 40-odd games, not 10.

Evidence will be if we start to move players out in the next week or two and start to bring bodies in (if we can). Board have backed them, they have a plan, Bern and Jonno say they want to stay and fight. Got to start seeing some changes in playing staff now fingers crossed I have a feeling we have some funds in the kitty to help improve the squad the board have been very frugal dealing with covid and the aftermath, so fingers crossed we will see some movement in and out.

Ok…so it’s sounds we probably can’t afford to get rid of them until their contracts run out at the end of the season…so…the first thing I want to see is an improved league position within the next 5 games, and some bloody fight on the pitch,..we also need to off load 5 or 6 and replace them…and I’d like to see that done as soon as possible …I hope the board have made the right decision here or we could be facing relegation come the end of the year..It sounds like the board have full and continuing support for co-managers, anything else is your own speculation. Why do that? why spread division under a statement calling for togetherness and stability? I agree we need to show a big improvement but whilst this is the worst form we've ever showed under this pair, we are still nowhere near relegation form, hyperbole isn't helping. It's been 7 matches and we're still closer to the play offs than relegation. It’s fairly obvious what’s gone on…most managers with ambitious clubs would be gone now…we may be closer to the play offs..but what I seen against Marske isn’t a club on the way up…

Ironically when Stockport had played 7 they were on 8pts and the top team were on 21. After 7 games we are on 8pts and the top team is on 19.

I highly doubt it. Unless it’s Watford.

Don’t think anyone’s backpedaling. Most of us, perhaps all, would not have been disappointed if the duo had quit after Marske. Jonno’s interview was done feeling as bad and as angry as most of us fans.
However in the cold light of day the statement sets the right tone and enables everyone to build towards improvement and a managed change if we do not achieve a league position we are content with.
Like agl, I don’t think they will be here next season, but we will be a better position to progress next season

I dont think the board or anyone else has given up on the season. Yes, mistakes have been made re: recruitment and tactics, but they should be given the chance to rectify those mistakes. Never done anything, that you wouldnt have done differently , in hindsight? The interview finished it for me. Happy to be proved wrong and for us to actually start matches positively, but if we’ve got a manager who says he wouldn’t bother going to watch this team, I’m not going to rush to travel for 5 1/2 hours to until there’s some improvement. Change needs to happen fast here, if the next few games are the same dross then I hope the board reconsiders. Totally with you. Sad to say it but it is very likely that crowds dwindle and the effects of that would be catastrophic. Basically they would be sacked if we could afford to.A duo should never have been appointed. A model of management that is rare because it doesn't work and is costly.

As I've just said on another thread, when we've had one manager in the past, we've also had an assistant, so that's still two salaries. Now, we don't have an assistant, so I imagine the two managers just absorb the cost of one between them. I think people make too much of the whole joint managers things. It's steeped in a British idea of having a suited and booted "manager" who runs the club inside and out. In most of Europe, they talk of a coaching team and a "head coach" within it. There are probably cases when the manager or head coach is just acting as the face of the coaching team and is not really the one calling the shots - Solskjaer at Manchester United certainly always comes across that way to me!

Compass is stuck more like. The level we are at is pitiful. The duo seem to have pulled the wool over the eyes of the board. They sound like a couple of builders giving excuses for shoddy workmanship and blaming others for their shortcomings. They decide on the players, train and coach them, formulate tactics and are responsible for motivating them and creating a successful team.

9th, 6th, 3rd.
That’s literally progression. It’s literally the opposite of “going backwards.”
Their win/unbeaten percentage is second to Neil Young, with far fewer games played.
Our league form so far this season is W2 D2 L3 - hardly disastrous.

Possible 21 points isn’t disastrous but it’s still pretty crap…

The thing I’m struggling to wrap my head around is that the 2 games I’ve seen this season were Alfreton and Blyth, and whilst we looked vulnerable to pace at the back, it looked a decent, balanced squad.
It doesn’t make any sense to play that well occasionally and be as terrible as reported at other times.

I missed Blyth but some people near me were saying the first half against Marske was very similar. We let in a soft early goal but otherwise dominated the half and played OK. The problem was we didn't have our shooting boots on and put in one of the worst defensive performances I've ever seen. Plus I think everyone's forgotten Gray took a hell of a knock in the run-up to the first goal and it didn't look likely he would continue. Once the second goal went in you could see the confidence sap out of the team, but we persisted with a style of play that wasn't working and it went from bad to worse. 4-0 was not really a reflection of the pattern of the game I didn't think, but it was a reflection of how brutally our weaknesses could be exposed.

Right decision from the club to unequivocally back the managers. If they weren't going to be sacked, then a statement like this needed to be made.
Once the dust settles from a disastrous week, a bit of perspective is found.
Bern and Jonno definitely don't seem quite right at the minute, things that are written on twitter are being mentioned by them when speaking to the press . I don't think it does them or the club any good. The views they seem to pick up on are always the most extreme ones and not a good barometer of how the fans feel. I'd suggest a break from twitter and all other socials and just focus on the task at hand. The managers' biggest strength are the feel-good factor they can create when things are going well.
There are definitely problems at the club, but things will always look rosier if we string 3 wins together on the bounce. That's really what we need to do now, starting at Kettering.

Don't really understand why managers and players use it.
