Sad news to hear yet another MP has been murdered seemingly with terrorism the cause.
Him and Jo Cox should be a shinning light for everything that is good with our democracy.

Agree. Two MPs murdered within five years is shocking.
The popular argument is that MPs are overpaid. I don't really think they are when you consider some of the shit they're expected to put up with. What they're paid should reflect both the professionalism we expect of them and the level of protection they receive.

Amazing to see the posters missing the chance to give their condolences to the family of a Tory MP

Amazing to see the posters missing the chance to give their condolences to the family of a Tory MP Or maybe they are following the advice that if you can't say something nice, say nothing? To be honest, reading up on David Amess I would struggle to leave him a glowing tribute as I find a lot of what he campaigned for pretty abhorrent. But I didn't know him as a person and nobody should lose their life like he did. Our reaction in cases like this should be shock, not political point scoring.

Amazing to see the posters missing the chance to give their condolences to the family of a Tory MP Why don’t you start then? Do they post on here, I might private message them?

Loads of threads on this forum for people passing away, we all send condolences for them, even if they don't read them. Does surprise me that people haven't commented on this, we have differences, but surely now is a time to come together and agree we need to stop names like 'Tory Scum' etc - Whilst i imagine the guy who did this doesn't relly think that way, if this kind of thing doesn't discourage people from abusing people who voted one way or support a party, nothing will. Then the true 'Scum' will show.

Excuse people not wanting to send condolences for a man who voted to end free school dinners during a worldwide pandemic.

I would support any campaign to clean up parliamentary language, but I found it pretty pathetic how many people instantly assumed the attack to be some leftie activist and laid into Angela Rayner. Now that it's been revealed to be an Islamic extremist they've had to revert to their standard Muslim bashing.

A man has been killed for standing for what he believes and for doing his job. Whatever the politics behind us, surely we can all agree that this is a disgusting act and my heart goes out to his family.

Out of interest, I had a look at the Southend by-election tomorrow. Labour, Lib Dems and the Greens have opted not to field a candidate, but several far-right and nationalist parties have shown no such respect and have taken advantage of the situation, meaning voters are faced with a choice between Conservative, UKIP, Jayda Fransen and several parties with "English" in their name. There is one candidate called the Psychedelic Movement who I can't find much about other than that they love drugs and think BLM is a moneymaking scam, so they seem a bit loopy as well.
Not sure what I'd do if I lived there. I probably marginally favour UKIP to the Tories, but I think I'd have to just abstain or spoil my ballot.

So not much in it to choose from for local voters then.

I'd certainly be tempted to set up a Don't Vote for Any of These Racist Pricks Party if I lived down there.
