What has happened to fundraising at the club? I remember there was a committee for fundraising for the club, I know Ed Jones was part of this although he, unfortunately, had to leave his role, but it appears fundraising has stopped altogether? Needed more than ever with this projected loss!
Is there a way to bring this committee back? I remember a thread similar to this for ideas on the old Devachat, so...
Could we have this as a good thread with some great fundraising ideas? If people could share any fundraising ideas they have, I'll pass them all onto the club / ask the club to read through this thread.. I believe we could really help the club if we use this thread well.

Good idea. We could raise funds for the 3G facility (if it's not a grant) or extend the blues bar.

Has anyone heard if their is a sponsored walk this Saturday to raise funds for our academy? We do one every year but I've heard absolutely nothing about one this year. It's a good initiative which we should do every year, not a couple of years. Just a thought!

I used to sponsor the walk and it is a great pity if it is no longer being done. I remember Lily Savage' enthusiasm in trying to raise money and he was instrumental in organising the walks. I haven't seen him post for ages - does anyone know what happened to him. A big loss to the club if he has decided to walk away.

I don't sorry, but I know someone who is a Chester fan who has the name Viv Savage on twitter. Is that who you are on about?

Anyway, Ian, Marty, Viv used to be involved with the sponsored walks and other fundraising but doesn't appear to be so any more I was just wondering why!

He was always a very positive person and (judging by some of his twitter posts) I think he's had enough of the negativity on this forum but I'm not speaking for him so it could be something completely different.

Unfortunately Viv no longer attends games as he became disillusioned with the standard of officiating. He now spends more time on his other passion which is dog showing. His West Highland Terrier,Thereasa's Boy, came a very creditable 3rd in show at the West Cheshire. Well done mate!

Between that and standing for the Green Party in the GE his spare time is very limited

Questions should be asked as to why try and raise money for the Club, when money is being wasted on two well paid off field jobs ie a General Manager Tony Allen and CEO Mark Maguire? Don't mind raising funds to go towards the squad but not while the Board are wasting money elsewhere!

Don't mind raising funds to go towards the squad but not while the Board are wasting money elsewhere! Take a few minutes to read Dodge's April CFU meeting summary in that thread, and you'll quickly realise Maguire is certainly not a wasted wage. He also mentions it will take him 18 months to fully get up to speed; he is just under a year into that so the best is yet to come I'm sure. Tony Allen is an odd one as I never hear from him or ever speak to him when I speak to the club, it is always Mark Maguire which again suggests he's certainly pulling his weight at the club. However, who knows, if Allen left we could suddenly see the club are struggling with the work load. Maybe Allen's role can be a lower paid or voluntary role, or his work given to the CFU chair. I definitely think we should save some money in that sense.

didn't get to the meeting so not sure how he came across, but was it to inform membership of his activities or to justify his position? Would some of the things mentioned have been picked up by others had he not been there? Am undecided as it stands, but we'll see what he achieves in a few months. CFU chairman is voluntary position so don't see how they could do Tony Allens job.

What does he bring to the club that warrants his wage?

Just asked. Deals with league, other clubs, officials etc.. So football secretary I guess?
Stuff that needs to be done day to day, so still don't see how a CFU chairman could do it, unless retired.

Not defending Tony Allen in any way but I am supporting the need for a competent experienced secretary at a football club. It is too easy to make a cock up by not being aware of the regulations, as happened to us in the not too distant past.
