I should maybe wait until the AGM for this information, but does anyone know how much we have had to pay Burr and are we still paying him?

These sort of agreements will be covered by a settlement agreement so will be confidential by both parties and costs most likely included within the pay budget of financial report so impossible to split from the rest of the budget , in short we may never know.

The Chairman said, when asked at a CFU meeting, that it "wasn't as much as people think. Steve Burr didn't want to be seen to be unreasonable as it wouldn't help him in getting future jobs". Or words to that effect.
No idea of the money involved. But he was on £50k?? and had a year left. So maybe £25k??

I had heard this also. Despite the general feeling of hate from many towards Burr, I don't think he was out to screw us. Indeed, I feel his role at the Club was almost more a 'Director of football' and in my opinion, Jon McCarthy was running the football coaching and management side of things for most of Burr's tenure. I think Burr himself said this to be the case although obviously he had ultimate responsibility. Great managers are there to delegate after all. I had serious reservations when Macca was appointed to replace Burr as it would just be more of the same. Sadly, this has proven to be very much the case.
Indeed looking back, Steve Burr gave us some great times and I feel with the support of a Chairman (Durkin) that appreciated the concept of speculate to accumulate and didn't mind dipping in his own pocket to make it happen, things were moving relatively nicely at that time with hope and support from the fans. The accusations from some fans of Durkin stealing from the Club (which incidentally is ridiculous if you know anything about Durkin and his wealth!) ultimately forced him out of the Club and I feel this was the turning point in the financial restrictions being placed on the managers and the decline in performance and supporter goodwill.
I guess it's a classic case of 'you don't know what you've got until its gone'. I think we have some really tough times to come.

I have come to the conclusion having talked to so many demoralised fans yesterday that we have to pay JM off. This needs to be done by negotiation. Giving JM 30k to 40k over two years is a better option than losing 50k to 60k next season with the added cost of almost certain relegation. I implore the CEO and Board to do what needs to be done as there is no hope in our current situation and football clubs and supporters need hope.

My respect for Steve Burr fell into question when I heard that he and Ben shared the same agent and that the move to Motherwell may have been arranged against the best interests of the club.

Regarding the comments from "Cestrian for Life" cannot recall seeing in the CFU accounts seeing that Chairman Durkin had put money into the Club at that time, I think you'll find that Durkin sponsored games and put into the Club that way, along with a lot of other people as well; and if someone or a Company wanted to sponsor games etc, that is normal commercial process. I think you will find also that while as Chairman he tried to bring in Jim Harvey on a paid role to look after the Youth Academy, when in actual fact it was being run very well at the time by knowledgeable volunteers. Hence this led to a lot of bad feeling towards Durkin for trying to this under handed move. Also at a CFU meeting at the time he stood up and stated that comments on Devachat had upset his Mother and that's the reason why he was stepping down. Probably not minuted but witnessed by all who were there.

Correct ~~~ the fans who were running the youth section at the time stepped down from their voluntary, successful roles when it became apparent that Harvey was angling for the role in a paid capacity.
