From the player, he said he's got offers, including a move back here. Not the big, commanding centre midfielder i had in mind personally. Too many times we get outbattled when we had Joyce and Lloyd in the same midfield...

We need some big mean midfielders not another tiny lightweight midfielder like Barry.
Barry reminds me of that period when there was about 12 small midfielders and not much else in the Chester squad around about 2008 to 2009.
If we are going to play hoofball then some big physical players are going to be required. I like the sound of Jordan White. Been unlucky with injuries and was starting to score goals. However, when you have so little confidence in a manager you don't expect him to make the right signings at all.

I heard Iwelumo is here full time next season. With Shaw also in a player/coach role.
I'm with those who believe the assistant should have National League and North knowledge and experience. Also a "bad cop" type of character. Don't see Iwelumo as either of those. He won't know players in this area, or presumably do any scouting either. Except maybe the odd Academy game. I agree with the Lee Sinnott shout. Ticks most of the boxes. Him or someone like Carl Macauley could make a good match.

Apologies to those who I pushed over the edge. Assuming anyone took any notice, that is.

Signed Harry White, striker from Solihull Moors Now that is good news. 22 years old and can score goals if he keeps improving we could have a real player there.

Very pleased with this. Exactly the type of player we should be signing and hopefully he is improving. 12 goals last season for Solihull. Should lift a bit of the gloom.

Now for me we need another striker, bit more experience and proven he can score goals at this level. Anyone know if Ross fancies a return given that we could have a little more money for wages with Swetenhams paying for 3 of the squad. Could we potentially at least offer him a small pay cut, but a two year deal and guarenteed football? He will find the net without question. Could be a 30+ goal partnership although now i think i'm getting carried away!

That was quick, remember waiting weeks for the first signing last year! Very good signing on paper, young lad with an eye for goal and big ambitions. I guess we will look to do a fair bit of business early, before putting season tickets on sale.

I guess we will look to do a fair bit of business early, before putting season tickets on sale. The thinking must have been to move quickly to lift the gloom after the season finished. Nothing like a fresh sheet of paper and some new signings to rekindle the fire in the belly. Like a kid this afternoon, checking twitter and Devachat MkII every few minutes!

Happy with that one. Young lad who can score. It's a small boost but a good sign of things to come, hopefully

Happy with White, a good goalscoring record for a young man who has yet to settle anywhere long term. Hopefully we can be that place for him to kick on.
Big news regarding Astles too. He's a very competent defender at this level; think he could benefit by losing a few pounds before we kick off but delighted he's staying. Right decision on Akintunde too, promising player who hopefully will be an option from the bench.

Mahon too now, 2 year deal.
Delighted to see him stay, he's more than good enough for us IF we can keep him fit.

Bloody hell what's going on at Chester? A very good striker signing in White (who always scores against us) and three of the best players at the club signing on. Just need Alabi and Hughes to sign up and Luke George to make a glorious return to Southport and it's a very good day to be a Chester fan!

Massive thank you must also go to Swettenham Chemist for their continued support at the club. They will be paying for our three new youth players who have signed professional contracts. Superb support from them. 👍🏻
