A full bus of Senior Blues members set off in glorious sunshine to take a trip on the Llangollen Railway and take a trip in a barge across the Llanfryn..something viaduct, anyway, it's near Llangollen and it's hard enough to say it never mind spell it! We left the Deva stadium at about 9-15 and arrived at Llangollen Station at 10am. For those who havn't been, it's a real operating station and rail sevice run totally by volunteers., and the joy and memories came flooding back of smelling, the train smoke, and travelling in a real old fashioned ex British Rail steam train and carriages. Before we left, we had time to get a drink and snack at the Station buffet, and then we all piled onto the train only to find that each table in our carriage had tea coffee and biscuits, which was unexpected bonus. We then set off through glorious sun bathed Welsh countryside along the banks of the River Dee. Travelling along in this train was really like going back in time, in the days of Virgin Rail etc, and their like, with their super fast comfortable trains, it is easy to forget how we travelled by train in the good old days. On our return, we were then taken by our coach up to the canal for our trip across the viaduct. Designed and built by Thomas Telford it is the tallest viaduct in the country. Firstly we called into canal cafe for our pre-booked lunch, and sat in the sun in the pleasant seated area by the canal after lunch. We were soon on our boat, but had to wait our turn to go across the viaduct, as it only takes one barge at a time. We had a deilightful guide in Andrea, who doubled up as barmaid which was welcomed very much by our members, and very soon members John Prichard and Alan Johnson were sinking pints, whilst the Chairman was soon enjoying a Whisky and Lemonade. There are spectacular views from the viaduct as you would expect, and it was suggested and encouraged by some, that the Chairman would get a better look if he walked along the parapet of the viaduct, but he politely declined unless he was given a parachute first! Andrea gave us an in depth history about the viaduct and some of the barges present, and before too long we doubled back and returned to "port" and before too long we were on the coach and on the way back to the Deva. A beautiful sunny day out, which we seemed to have been blessed with, with our Summer outing days,, ever since our formation, there was no doubt our members had a great day out.

This is a clear reason why guests should be banned, clearly taking the Micky out of a long term fan and an obviously positive group.

I'm all for a sense of humour, and "banter" and if you want to have a laugh at the Senior Blues, go ahead. But remember, we are a serious organisation committed to raising money for the football club. Very soon I will be able to reveal exactly how much money we have raised over the 5-6 years we have been going, and it is a considerable amount of money. In only three months we raised over Β£4,000 for the Senior Blues Foundation, so laugh, and make snide remarks if you like, we are doing something positive for this football club. But the one thing I insist on, and I'm talking to the moderator now, that you don't allow my "name" to be associated with the National Front! I would appreciate it Si, if you could get your user to change his name. Thank you.

I respect what the senior blues have done/doing, also enjoy reading about the days out, but your posts where you go out of your way to self gratify yourself at every opportunity are some what embarrassing. In my opinion, it makes your "serious organisation" a laughing stock.

What I believe is the OP is just copy and pasting the original from DC mk 1 onto DC BIgger than Hitler, better than Christ, just so you can get more readership. No malice in it.

I hope u all pay a pound before entering the blues bar for ur meetings Pay a lot more than that. A considerable sum of money is generated each meeting. Self gratifying? I shall leave others, like our membership, to judge me on that. It is not a "sit back" and wait for things to happen role I can assure you, all of us on the committee have, and continue to work hard to make our Senior Blues club successful. As Chairman, I make, absolutely, no apology for pushing, and publicising the Senior Blues, and although this may erk some people, I will continue to do so, the mere fact that some on here have created a mock thread about us, proves that exact point, the more people who know about us, the better, and we are not going away! I am Chairman, and have been since our inception, my place as chairman can be challenged at any time by either, the committee or by the membership, every year all of us, (the committee) put ourselves up for re-election. In all the time we have been going, there has NOT been one challenge to any of us. Do you know, I wonder whether it because we must be doing something right? Our trips are popular, our speakers are popular, our attendances are always excellent, we have raised, and still are raising a considerable amount of money for the football club, plus we have taken on a permanent commitment to help fund the young players at our club who in the end, are clubs future. Anybody who wants to donate, either as a one off, or on a regular basis towards the Senior Blues Youth Foundation, can do so by approaching any of the Senior Blues committee I think, the problem is, this is positive and good news for OUR football club, and it seems, especially on here, that some on here don't like that, they would prefer to remain negative.

Something tells me none of these NFBF's are actually NFBF!
I think this is pretty low really. You can call it banter if you like, but it seems to me more like laughing at an elderly fan behind his back.

He's left himself open for it by not registering on here to be fair.
If he was registered it would not be possible for a guest to pretend to be him...

As as I said in a previous post, I have respect and admiration for the senior blues and what they do, but the "chairmans" claims that they are a serious organisation are quickly being undone by his constant reminders that HE is the CHAIRMAN, and the writes ups on the senior blues days out are always around him.

That's probably a reasonable enough point, and one you could make, and probably have made, to him. But to parody him for a bit of a giggle on a forum we know he doesn't use, that's a bit unkind I think. It's not banter if it excludes someone.

It's all light hearted and nothing too personal, if I were on the receiving end I doubt I would take much offence. I do take a genuine interest on the senior blues threads, they get some good information out of people at the club about goings on that we wouldn't usually get told, but do sometimes shake my head in disbelief to some of the chairmans self promoting.

I used to go to Senior Blues meetings, but don't go any more (I went to 2 meetings). One was excellent, the legend Ian Edwards talking about his time here. The other one was a member of the Cheshire FA speaking about the workings of that group for 1 hour 20 minutes. God it was boring. Also I'm a firm believer in rotation of officers, probably after serving 3 years, certainly no more than five. It's imperative that no one person has the self-serving belief that he is irreplaceable and to pass the baton on after serving his/her term shows great faith in the democratic process. Good luck to the Senior Blues, but not for me.
