It does show their fans are more willing to dip into their pockets than ours but it also shows what a fan-owned club is up against. While £40k looks impressive, it will only pay an average player's salary for a year or as was the case with Rooney about 8 months. Indeed, and if the goats are as massive as some of their more delusional followers think, they have still have had to resort to bucket collections and the like. My view is that we should do something similar, ( and we have before) but would only have any chance of success after our own delusional one has departed.

To be fair now, Wrexham have been terrible for large parts of the season and without Dean Keates stepping up as manager I honestly believe that Wrexham would have been relegated this season. I'm not to sure when people on here say the fans are deluded as next season is the 10th in the conference, I for one certainly don't think that were to big for this division. In stature both Wrexham and Chester would be in the top 5. I'd like to think that one day both our clubs could return to the football league where we both belong. Anyhow all the best to you lot until next season starts !

Gaz, I think you'll find great difficulty in persuading any set of fans to donate extra money to a playing budget to be spent by a clueless manager who has managed to lose 11 out of their last 12 home games, and is utterly delusional about his abysmal record over the last 5 months. The goats are in more positive circumstances than ourselves right now, but it wont last !

Difference between both our teams is we will always support our club through thick and thin. We may not support the manager if he is a fake ( Mills) but we support any manager that is trying his best and appears to know what he is doing ...then there is your present manager who sounds and is acting more and more like Mills. We are only in a positive place at the moment because under Mills we were going no where time will tell if Keates is the one but all ready he is displaying the qualities all of us supporters look for in a good manager. We are now greatly looking forward to the close season...are you ?

We've been there and done it, and I honestly don't think it works. £40,000 is ultimately not going to be the difference between success and failure in the division. It just makes fans even more annoyed when they don't see an improvement in the team.
If fans are going to put money into their club, they would be better putting it into ground developments, youth set-up, marketing or anything else that actually brings money back into the club. Throwing money at the playing squad leaves you with a lopsided playing budget, pushes the wage bill up and leaves you in a situation where you're probably just going to need to raise the same amount again next year just to maintain the same situation. I've always thought it's a bad idea myself and would be much more willing to contribute towards a youth or ground development funding project.

Our youth set up is being funded by simple stuff like the Danny Ward (Liverpool & Wales) Neil Taylor (Villa), Jordan Davies (Brighton) add on clauses. Our marketing dept. Is in a good place, probably the best it's ever been thanks to a healthy social media campaign. Ground developments? Not really needed at this point. Repairs & maintenance? Yes The £43k raised so far will not be spent on one player as such but as explained by Keates be used as and when to maybe up a wage offer to a particular player to seal the transfer. Or it might be used to bring in a loan player when needed.

Or it might be used to bring in a loan player when needed. It should hit £50k in a few weeks and like you say, it won't be spent on one player. It means Keates can have 5 players on £50k instead of £40k, instead. Grimsby did it last season and Tranmere did it earlier this year, it might help, it might not. It's ongoing too, so hopefully it'll give Keates a few quid in January too. The retained list today is brutal but expected. I can see the case for Riley and White, but the rest is spot on.

Hi Mods, Shouldn't this entire thread now be put into a seperate "Other football" forum such as the "jester" thread on the goats fans board? It seems a little odd that the most live topic at times on here, is how much they have raised in their latest bucket collection. This will ensure that most of us can avoid this drivel. Just a thought.
