There’s calls on their forum for their Supporters Trust to give up/sell the lease of the ground to R&R. The Trust currently own the lease and sub-let the ground to R&R for an annual rent. Those fans should be bloody careful what they wish for… YES YES YES.

Define "overspending" £2.1m a year from TikTok Aviation Gin sponsorship Expedia sponsorship 6000+ shirts sold 5200 ST sold plus more when stand refurb is done Disney+ documentary Increased hospitality revenue Increased LED hoarding revenue These are off the top of my head. The club is loaded and we're spending that money. I think we're being quite conservative with what we can spend (Mullin aside who's probably on 5k a week imo) How much are the wooden actor and the z lister taking in drawings/dividends from the business as well? Actually, that is a question well worth asking. Pound to a penny you'll never get an answer, though.

Whatever people think of the new owners at Wrexham their motivation is not to make money.
Rob M is clearly a big sports fan who simply does not have the money to buy any form of sports club in the USA so decided to look for an affordable option in the UK.
The business model is to use the fame of Reynolds to drive up commercial revenues as well as getting a sizeable sum for the documentary. Do not think Reynolds is that interested but the project clearly appeals to his sense of humour and does provide extra publicity which he appears to enjoy.
In the short term if I am being honest it could work out quite well for the club. The problem will be in a few years time when the novelty wears off for the sponsors and the documentary runs its course. The pair would then have to come up with their own money which is clearly not what they have done so far. That could be a problem as they have never actually met each other and the less wealthy one is clearly the driving force. Having Shaun Harvey involved could also prove to be a very bad thing as he is not known for his good judgement or long term thinking.
What Wrexham are trying is unique and does not look that sustainable to me but they might as well enjoy it as they decided that it is what they wanted for good or ill. They will never have any say ever again and could regret not driving a harder bargain, or any bargain for that matter, as they just gave the club away with no strings attached to two people who live 3,000 miles away who have never visited the town or met each other !

When was I queuing for cuppa tea at our game against Curzon..that I never managed to get…then watched us get thrashed by a very mediocre team that can only pull in about 400 fans..in a very obscure badly run league…god help them I say..

Thats a pretty fair assessment I think. Just on your last point. The trust couldn't sell the club because of its own constitution. So the choice was to either give it to a new owner, or reject their advance. Whether or not we made the right decision, time will tell. But as someone who voted for the transfer (after being a supporter of the WST) it felt very much like a once in a lifetime opportunity, and if we didn't take it we'd be in a very difficult place post-covid. As it is we are currently promotion favourite whereas I could have seen us going down if we had stuck as we were. The pandemic wiped out all the money in the bank and we'd be on a very reduced wage budget.

I think you are right about the pandemic being a significant financial threat to the club and meant that the club were not in a good place to bargain. However Ryan and Rob could have made sure significant safeguards for the future of the club be put in place had they wanted to.

Lets not beat about the bush…football teams financially can over spend or have dubious owners or like us be fan owned..nothing guarantees success and whichever way you look at it there are pitfalls for every club….but let’s be absolutely clear here… If it was us that was given the Hollywood proposal…triple our average attendance, sign league one players ,revamp and enlarge the ground, create a massive enthusiastic vibe around the club and most importantly try to fulfil the dream of playing in league one and in doing watching a higher standard of football…would we accept the offer……you bet your aunt fannys cat we would….

Considering how passionate Wrexham fans think they are they should have realised barring having Tik Tok and a gin on their shirts they could have done all this themselves when they actually owned their football Club. Now it's down to an actor who gets this toy next.

Passionate enough to stop the club going into liquidation but I suppose they would have been better letting it go and forming a completely new club with a different name.

They even did a trailer standing next to each other for the documentary that went viral. And check Kaitlin Olsens (Robs wife) Instagram for other pictures of them together.

That interview was three and a half months ago. The point was they had never met each other when they were given the club. Interview is quite interesting in that they say they do not consider themselves owners but rather the club belongs to the town. They were very keen to have 100% of the shares though. The American takeovers of fan owned Portsmouth and Wycombe left some shares with supporters. See no reason why they could not have left 30% with the supporters rather than demanding they be given to them. That would have built in some sort of safeguard for the future. They have given themselves the option of selling the club to someone else in the future without any accountability. I would suggest Wrexham fans enjoy their current money is no object status while it lasts and act towards other clubs with a bit more humility and class. They could easily have gone under due to the pandemic and were saved by a enormous slice of luck as the interview with Rob M demonstrates.

Spoken to several people who should know and the club was going under hence the club gave the shares away. You can not cut your cloth once players have been signed on contracts and Wrexham were committed over their heads. The club even took 100k from the Welsh Government not available to any other club in the National League. Not great for Welsh taxpayers having to subsidise a football club now spending 200k on central defenders aged 31. I understand Wrexham FC also expect to get a multi million subsidy from the Welsh Government to redevelop the Kop as part of the Wrexham Gateway project. Given the state of public services in North Wales this is scandalous !

Also, we get precious flip all else from Cardiff most of the time so this subsidy is most welcome.

You spoke in the present tense so just thought I’d mention they’ve met a few times. I get that this is a nightmare scenario for Chester - I’ve often thought how’d terrible it would’ve been if the shoe was on the other foot & a wealthy investor came in for Chester and they did a “Man City” and how unbearable it would be but the point is that we’ve earned this - it was based on a set of criteria, facilities, fanbase, history & finance (we were debt free thanks to the stellar work of the WST) & Wrexham scored highest with 38 out of 50, hell, they probably looked at Chester but let’s face it you probably wouldn’t have got into double figures. But the desperation to find anything negative in this is understandable I guess but also pathetic & jealous. People insisting we were “6th choice” when it was clearly not the case,The way you use the term that they “demanded” 100% of shares, the way people who call McElhenney a “z” lister a man who has created the longest running live action comedy series in American television history not to mention the critically acclaimed Mythic Quest, people laughingly who think they’re up to something - people who live & die by there reputation as celebs likened to some dodgy property developers trying to make a quick £50,000 selling the ground to Homebase or something, as soon as Stockport signed Quigley people were on here straight away to laugh at Wrexham so called ambition at not signing him. I could go on and on. Now you’ve got to go down the Wrexham should show some “humility” route & that we were “lucky” - I suggest you read some of the posts on here to see a lack of humility and as stated we came out on top over a global search for a viable football club to invest in so certainly wasn’t lucky. I am waiting for us to now lose our first football game to see the mass celebrations on here & how our owners must regret everything- it’s all becoming quite predictable.

If you don't like what you read then don't read your rivals forum ffs. But the reality is Hartlepool said no and you were quick enough to say yes it's as simple as that, Enjoy it while it lasts. If reading this is annoying you then don't read what the rest of the the football pyramid are saying, you could get promoted, get to the 5th round of the FA Cup, Wrexham won't get the recognition you think you deserve as wages of 5-6k a week are getting thrown about. Salford threw 4k a week at Rooney but didn't even go to this extent while they were in non league.

Ah yes, “sold our soul” that’s one I forgot to put in, where in reality 99% of your fanbase would have done exactly the same. How many chairmen do you really think give a crap about the clubs they own? You carry on getting turned over 3-0 at home by Curzon Ashton for ever more if that’s what makes you happy.

The money spent by the Welsh Government comes from UK taxpayers through means of a block grant based on the Barnett formula. Why on earth should a football club owned by two American millionaires be given a subsidy to redevelop a football ground when the club is spending millions on transfer fees and wages ? This money is desperately needed for hospitals and schools etc.

Its part of a wider, amd much needed regeneration scheme for Wrexham, and the clubs owners will be contributing to the project. I understand the handwringing but thats a very myopic view you've got there. You could equally ask why Cheshire West are subsidising a tier 6 football club by giving them favourable ground rent on land they own, and not bulldozing your ground and building a school, or recycling centre or something. But the answer is its good for the area to have the football club there.

Probably makes sense to upgrade the Station and put a couple of bus stops outside. The whole scheme lacks substance except to provide a new stand for the football club and it should be the new owners who pay for that not the tax payer.

Urban Regeneration. Very hard to see how the Gateway Project achieves much in the way of urban regeneration. Probably makes sense to upgrade the Station and put a couple of bus stops outside. The whole scheme lacks substance except to provide a new stand for the football club and it should be the new owners who pay for that not the tax payer. Well if the UK taxpayer is 'chipping' in to pay for our new stand I would like to say a public thank you here and now.

If you’re going to spend time on your rivals message board at least know how to post properly. Embarrassing

Snout in the trough as usual.
