Keates has just signed a 3 and half year deal pleased with this news he's done excellent getting rid of the rubbish and done well not to give in to Rooney's demands That is an odd decision!

And I thought giving McCarthy a 2 year contract was stupid giving Keates a 3 year contract is just ludicrous 😂

I give it until November before the deluded ones start calling for his head. They really need their own Scouse Boom Bust Cycle graph.

I find it strange to give him a extra 2 years at this time, but there must be some get out clause in the contract for both club and manager if things don't work out. At least its not a stupid 30 game contract.

Does anyone know of a bookies that will give odds on Keates not being at Wrexham by the end of next season?

Another standing room only WST members meeting last night in the Cent. Terrific turnout, guessing around 300 plus members present. Finally nailed Keates down to a proper contract. Stability and patience in abundance. Not since the days of Flynns contract and his vision have we seen such foresight.

3 1/2 years for a fan owned self funded club is very, very risky. And several Wrexham fans in work have also said the same.

Patience required. Keates has already shown faith in our youth system and has vowed to continue to do so. This will be key as we progress. As stated at last nights meeting, Keates has already brought a new philosophy into the club through training, sports science, analysis etc. The thought of becoming known as a sacking club with little patience does no one any favours. #VivaDK

Recently discovered an alternative to red passion. It's alright too. A bit quieter but certainly a decent forum with none of the hysterics of RP. They do charge £2 to join though, think that goes to shirt sponsorship and the like. spiritof78.co.uk

Certainly a long contract to offer an untested manager but well done to the club for taking an approach that is similar to ours - avoiding a 'big name' and going for someone who has the spirit of the club at heart (well done also re: Rooney - the man has been exposed once again).
Solidarity for both clubs as we seek to grow in this difficult division, awash with money and individuals with no business acumen when it comes to football.

We're associate members of the Football League. All this 'piss off and play in the Welsh League' rhetoric doesn't make sense. Chester were more than happy to play in the Welsh Cup? And took the competition very seriously. There was no resting players by Chester in the early 70's etc for games? A time when Chester fans keep telling me 'we had a hell of a side then' blah blah blah You only won the Welsh Cup twice, compared to our record 23 times - and yes, you were playing in the very same competition each and every one of those years! That club's pinnacle was a semi-final in the League Cup 1975. Nothing else. Nothing. The Cheshire Cup? What are Tranmere Rovers doing in it? Why did the English F.A use The Millennium Stadium in Wales for the F.A Cup Final instead of an English ground whilst Wembley was being rebuilt? It's funny 'cos half your fanbase is Welsh? Those living in Chester estates live in buildings named in Welsh? Nant Peris flats etc etc Why don't you try and write that in your own language? Thanks x Rydyn ni'n aelodau cyswllt o gynghrair pêl-droed. Nid yw'r holl rethreg 'piss a chwarae yn y Gynghrair Cymru' hwn yn gwneud synnwyr. Chester yn fwy na hapus i chwarae yng Nghwpan Cymru? Strange how that is the exact translation given by Google Translate Even I know that Chester in Welsh is Caer..... As for Dean Keates getting a 3 and a half year contract? Risky business. We thought giving Macca a 2 year contract (even though he's deserved it) as a fan funded club was a tad risky. As has been mentioned though, there must be a clause in the contract which will allow him to leave should things turn sour. Don't get me wrong, I dislike Wrexham immensely, but fair does, Keates has come in and has done a good job. I've even found myself feeling slightly sorry for him over the Judas fiasco, but Keates handled the situation well.
