It's been a bit quiet on here for the last few days, probably "the calm before the storm" because it's always likely to kick off on some subject or other!
So, purely as an observation, and because I'm interested in what others views are:
Man U play Ajax in the Europa League Final in Stockholm in 11 days time. The stadium has a capacity of 50,000 Each club, both with big support, has been allocated only 9,500 tickets each! This means that over 60% is going elsewhere e.g VIPs, UEFA etc etc
So we have a major final where, in my view, the fans are almost secondary to the occasion.
Of course, it's the same for virtually every major final e.g FA Cup but I'm of the opinion that it's almost symptomatic of a trend to alienate the true fans of the game. Are we going to end up with bland, sanitised occasions, lacking in atmosphere, staged purely for TV?
For the general good of the game, and it's future, I hope not.
Like I said, this is purely an observation based on something I heard - I certainly have no love for Man U or indeed the creeping commercialisation of the game at the top level.

It's a disgrace really the ticketing for this final.
Realistically, based on a 50,000 capacity it should be simply a case of a minimum of 22,500 tickets for each club with the remaining 5,000 split however UEFA choose to do so with the sponsors of the competition.
And we all thought things would improve with Platini out of the picture.

50,000 does seem to be too small to host a final given the amount of tickets that go elsewhere.
They should say that each set of fans get a minimum of 25,000 and then get a stadium big enough to cater for any extra tickets they wish to allocate for VIPs etc.
Often, finals are dull affairs anyway - surely they need to do everything to make it a raucous atmosphere?

The allocations are pathetic and will probably lead to problems as huge numbers will travel from both sides without tickets. From what I've heard United have not taken a staff allocation and they have gone to the fans . . . not sure how many, but a few hundred I would guess.

At least when we reach the Europa league final we'll all get a ticket. Look on the bright side!
