It's been a bit quiet on here for the last few days, probably "the calm before the storm" because it's always likely to kick off on some subject or other!
So, purely as an observation, and because I'm interested in what others views are:
Man U play Ajax in the Europa League Final in Stockholm in 11 days time.
The stadium has a capacity of 50,000
Each club, both with big support, has been allocated only 9,500 tickets each!
This means that over 60% is going elsewhere e.g VIPs, UEFA etc etc
So we have a major final where, in my view, the fans are almost secondary to the occasion.
Of course, it's the same for virtually every major final e.g FA Cup but I'm of the opinion that it's almost symptomatic of a trend to alienate the true fans of the game.
Are we going to end up with bland, sanitised occasions, lacking in atmosphere, staged purely for TV?
For the general good of the game, and it's future, I hope not.
Like I said, this is purely an observation based on something I heard - I certainly have no love for Man U or indeed the creeping commercialisation of the game at the top level.
