Well done to Rio Doherty for completing the Chester 10k this morning. He was running well in his Chester FC shirt at around the 8k mark on Parkgate Road where I was volunteering. I hope you're pleased with your finish time. Congratulations to any other Deva Chatters if they ran the Chester 10k this morning too!

Many thanks for your kind words, plus I appreciate yourself and the rest of the volunteers for helping out to ensure the event was a success. I’ve been a member of the running society at the university for over a year, where we take part in 5k runs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays every week. In the run-up to the Chester 10k the club were doing practise 10k runs on Sundays, but as I volunteer on the Chester FC Women’s media team on matchdays, I was unable to attend the Sunday runs. Therefore, today was my first ever 10k and I finished the run in 58 minutes and 30 seconds without stopping, so I am really made up that I completed it under an hour (which was my target). Prior to the event the running club set up a JustGiving page to raise money for ‘Chester Aid to the Homeless’ (CATH), which raised £230.00 in total. I saw a few other Chester shirts and supporters I know of, which was great to see. Congratulations to all who took part.

Nice one, Rio. I'm a member of Chester Road Runners running group and all the volunteers from the Aldi roundabout up to Canal Street were from the club, plus we had about 90 club members running in the 10k too. There's also a group of us who are Chester FC season ticket holders!

Just looking at the pictures on the Standard website, quite a few familiar faces from Chester Park Run. (5k is about my limit at my advancing years!!)

Was going to do the triple this year but missed the boat and I haven’t really ran since the Alton Towers half marathon in November. Need to get back into it.
Well done all.

Why don't they ever change the route of these ridiculous, self congratulating, sanctimonious events? If they are that good for the community then surely share the pleasure of road closures and not being able to get anywhere? Chester Marathon/Chester Half Marathon/Chester 10k the list goes on and on and it's always the Garden Quarter and Blacon who suffer because of it. Run it through Hoole or Curzon Park or The Lache and let them have it for a bit............................

The route needs changing so the same residents are not adversely affected by every event, or even better let the virtuous trot around the racecourse congratulating themselves until they have covered the relevant distance - then disruption to normal people is minimal.

I don't follow your logic. Why are people who are trying to get fit, lead a healthier lifestyle "virtuous" Presumably everyone on in your world should be sat on the sofa watching repeats of Antiques Road Show until they become obese and then end up costing the NHS a load of money. Or the fat kids locally whose parents get the "Chelsea Tractor" out because they are too lazy to walk half a mile to school. The more people walking, running, cycling the better in my book. The more people that leave their cars on the drive and look for an alternative the better.

That seems a strange thing to say as these events are usually well advertised so people who use the routes will be well prepared. I don't know what happens at the Chester 10k but round here when the Hastings half marathon is on the roads involved in the route are usually only closed for a couple of hours so disruption is minimal and most of the participants are doing it for charity

Why, going to send me abusive PMs again where you freely admit to moderating the forum based on people’s political opinions and to winding up certain people? Disgusting behaviour from a moderator.

Omg you are unbelievable you make a private message public because the nasty man used adult language. You really need to grow up and learn how to have a grown up conversation

I suppose this is why it is called "the off topic" forum as this thread has gone completely "off topic" 🙂

Once this “moderator” (who is supposed to be neutral) is no longer a moderator because he’s freely admitted to winding up forum users deliberately and deleting posts that he doesn’t personally agree with based on opinions, then I’ll stop.
I’m all for mods having opinions but they shouldn’t abusing their powers and censoring/removing posts by those with differing opinions, LET ALONE deliberately winding up people who have differing opinions.
