Shame to Duds go. However, I know Cal said that he'd been playing with an injury most of the season, and tbh he doesn't really fit the way we play now. He does need to be starting games, he's too good to not be a guaranteed starter somewhere, so can't blame him for moving on, plus Bern and Jonno love him. Very good stats shared on Twitter, 37 goals and 36 assists in 170 games (especially when you consider 50/60 of those were substitute appearances).
Would be good to see Kenyon sign up again, experienced player to compliment the young centre backs well, plus he was doing coaching in the academy. I think Kurt re-signing is a bit of a pipe dream.
It shows the strength of our starting 11 that the likes of Lynch, Brown and Morgan are leaving, as they'd walk into most teams at this level.
Pleasantly surprised but not complaining about Stanway, considering the press (or probably his agent trying his hardest) him getting interest higher up the league ladder, plus he did do well out on loan

Was Murray on a two year deal ? Stanway, Earl, and Murray were on one year deals with the option of a second. Extensions triggered by the club

Matty Waters? Too much of a risk? I've always liked him. A dream of a delivery into the box. Hope he signs.

He wasn't under contract during the season just gone so naturally wouldn't be included in our retained list; I'd bet my life on him being here next season but he'd be announced as a new signing.

Wouldn't be disappointed to see Waters back. Would provide cheap competition to Heywood in that position, and has quality in dead ball situations. Calum will know more than anyone how to get the best out of him. I feel we still lack a bit of physicality sometimes, but maybe Earl with a full pre season can kick on a bit. I imagine Calum's priority will be to get some clarity on the Willoughby situation - he must have had an improved offer from us so if he's not going to take that up then we can allocate that wage elsewhere to try and replace him.

Wish Duds all the best, been a great servant to the club and fair play if he’s played through injuries this season, but glad to see that chapter put to bed. Sadly just one of those players that had plenty of attributes but he’ll always be a divisive figure because of his style of play. A great signing for Radcliffe but hoping we’ll be putting together a more physical attack this season
Happy with that retained list overall, continuity when we’ve just had a good season was key. Just a few pieces needed to complete the jigsaw

I'd like to think that we're a club that does the right thing, and there is a sense of obligation towards Waters.
However, the injury he sustained was major and I believe a pay as you play deal, perhaps with the promise of a contract after Christmas linked to appearances, should be the way forward.

Still hoping we might land Whitehouse. Agree on physicality. Depressing how we completely lost the midfield battle in the play off semi.

I would sign a midfield enforcer. A midfield enforcer with a long throw.

I would sign a midfield enforcer. A midfield enforcer with a long throw. Now that's my type of player. Right on the head of the mew 6ft 6in targetman

Thought he might have gone higher up the leagues but I’m happy Charlie has signed up on a 2 year. It’s also not past the realms of possibility that Kurt would stay if the offers/clubs that came in for him weren’t the right fit. Looking forward to seeing who else Callum brings in, he’s got a decent eye for talent

Right on the head of the mew 6ft 6in targetman Problem with these kind of players is that while you hate to play against them, you also see their limitations very quickly when they play for you. Agree with the general point though. We need to be able to nullify certain playing styles. Being stronger and bigger brings a fair bit of that.

What’s the latest with Matty Waters? Alex Brown going is presumably freeing up a slot for Matty but is he training/going to feature in the pre-seasons on trial/going to be on a per game contract to start with, etc.

Great foundations to build on for next season , would be great to get Whitehouse and Kenyon signed up too as they both have bags of experience ⚽️ 🦭
