Does anyone have any info on the three young lads we have added to first team squad ? What positions do they play and are they locals lads? It's refreshing to see the youth team bearing fruit as in the past we have not really brought anyone, hopefully they will improve and learn during the season and get some time on the pitch. It would be a big step for club if we could be known as a great youth set up giving you players the chance to play. Crewe have done this brilliantly over the years ( although they have tarnished this through other reasons recently ! ). Even Wrexham have a good youth reputation. Would be fantastic to see a couple of local lads lining up for us against the goats and flying into tackles, fans really respond to home grown lads.

Only problem he is faced with is a lack of height and therefore physicality, which is necessary in this league. That said, he has the ability for the lack of height to be a non-issue. Seen him play a few times, every time he's scored and been impressive, one to watch. Good pedigree coming through Manchester City ranks and can play wide, but IMO better as a number 10. Don't know enough about Jones/Crawford personally. But here is some more info for you: www.chesterchronicle.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/chester-fc-sign-youth-trio-12974959

To add to the above, James Jones is an excellent centre half in my opinion. Oswestry lad, came to the club from TNS when he was an u13 or u14.
Tom Crawford is a midfielder, as stated from Gods Estate, and came to Chester from Stoke when he was 16. I haven't seen Tom enough to be honest.
Good luck fellas.

Always want to see lads progress to the first team but really pulling for Tom Crawford to do well for us.

We have to give these lads a chance, though it will be a tough step up. Hughes made it look easy, but he's the exception. Waters is still developing and has potential. But they grow quickly at that age and Waters may be a bit more physical next season.
Let's hope at least one of them becomes a first team regular on merit.

Tom Crawford is a local lad from Blacon. No he's not. NWAS said he's from God's Estate and that can't be Blacon.

Maradona and Messi (two of the three greatest players of all time) are five foot nothing so size isn't all that important as long as you've got ability. I'm hoping that the young lad makes a breakthrough into the first team and runs rings around players like Matty Brown and Steve McNulty who have all the pace of a canal barge.

In a more realistic comparison Stuart Rimmer and Carl Dale weren't very big. But they had speed and an eye for goal.

My only concern is that if he gets played McCarthy tells the team to go long ball.
