Being released by Port Vale now he would be a good signing

I agree, on the downside though he wasn't as energetic as he was at the start of last season, but I would definitely re-sign him.

Would be surprised if he ended up at us but has to be one of the 4 big targets.
Can see him ending up at that plastic scouse club down the road though

He would have been better off signing the 2-year deal at Southport. He would probably do well at Conference North level. His game disappeared after Christmas like the rest of the muppets. Doubt he'll come back here if the rumours about dressing room shenanighans were true.

His form tailed off last season, coinciding with the disaster as a whole. Think he would be decent signing though, maybe play him centrally to replace Shaw.

So basically it would the same midfield as last season, if George signs as well. No thanks, Lloyd was very poor for the second half of last season, we need someone better. The midfield needs strengthening with a decent box to box player and someone who can create chances for the strikers.

Have to be honest, I've probably seen him have more poor/ineffective games for us than good, but I don't go to as many games as some and maybe I just pick the wrong ones.
Makes sense to have a go at re-signing him, but I worry we're not really freshening things up enough.

I'm also worried that McCarthy is just looking at past Chester team sheets for the past four seasons and going after players that have already played for us. On another thread someone mentioned Stephen Hewitt. My only memory of him is getting him confused with a ball boy when he was warming up.

I think he's one of the most overrated players we've had for a long time - wandered about the midfield in a sort of free-role (perhaps not surprising for a player who started out as a winger) leaving our other midfielders to be dragged all over the pitch covering for him.

Not for me, mediocre at best! there is better out there, good first time round but headless chicken must of the time on the pitch

Assistant manager or not . . . hopefully we still see plenty of Tom Shaw on the pitch. Personally not sure about Lloyd coming back. Fresh faces required for me.

Don't rate him to be honest. Very poor alongside the rest of them towards the end of the season.l Doesn't really score or create much and is pretty lightweight. I suppose if we had a really decent enforcer in the middle he might look better.

Like most players we have on loan twice. Cracking player first time, disappointing 2nd time round.

No thanks. Have yet to see tackle and opposition player and thought he was very poor last season
