Two excellent games. Who would have thought South Shields would take by far the most fans! They look a good side, and a comfortable 4-0 win. York winning was daylight robbery. Felt really sorry for Macc.

What is it with the north east and the Fa Vase? Thats now 8 of the last 9 won by a team in that region.

What is it with the north east and the Fa Vase? Thats now 8 of the last 9 won by a team in that region. A lot of the better sides in the North East non-league scene don't attempt or accept promotion into the Evostik Leagues due to the travelling distances and costs involved. Players/clubs who could easily play a couple of steps higher therefore stay in the Northern Leagues which means they often can be of a higher standard than other teams that are eligable for the FA Vase. |

What is it with the north east and the Fa Vase? Thats now 8 of the last 9 won by a team in that region. Although they are Step 5 teams, the reality is that they are generally of Step 4 (or higher) quality, mainly because so few of them take promotion when the win the Norther League. |
