JM has finally done what we all have been asking and pulled off a couple of excellent signings in my opinion, and he should get the credit where due, still a long way to go to make amends from the shite 2nd half of last season but I think the signings in the PST 24 hours has pleasantly surprised most. So ......who's next ? A decent midfielder perhaps, I was thinking depends on the Sam Hughes situation we should try and get a player on loan for the season or a decent under 23 prospect perhaps? Thoughts everyone. Ps I bet a few of you are getting them season tickets ready!

A tackler in midfield and a left back plus gk cover loans are OK but only a short term answer

It's absolutely essential we get a strong, competitive, experienced central midfielder. This is more essential than any other position in my opinion, otherwise we will resort to lumping balls up towards Hannah. Ever since we have been in the Conference we have been over run in midfield. The best we have had has have been Tom Shaw, for the first half of last season. Other than that, it has been our biggest position of weakness.

Ritchie Sutton is next. Centre back from Tranmere, lives in Chester so ideal. Tranmere fans tell me he's decent and will do well for us. Will be a Ian Sharps-like player.

Yes - a commanding midfielder is definitely needed so that players like Craig Mahon and Jordan Chapell can operate with someone doing the 'ugly' stuff in the middle. I won't be buying a season ticket - never have done, as I prefer to sit / stand in different positions depending on my mood. Costs me more over the course of the season, but at my age it's nice to sit down with a blanket on my lap every so often!

Sutton would be a good signing and if Macca does sign him, I wouldn't be surprised that's the last player we sign until preseason starts. Maybe sign a LB but McCarthy seems to like to have a lot of trailists in preseason games and I think that's how he'll play it with the majority of the other signings.

Luke Summerfield seems a good player. On loan at Macc last season from Grimsby, quite a tall midfield player with lots of football league experience.

I'd like to see Whitaker and also Whittle from York. Wouldve liked Maynard but it appears moneybags Salford are buying big. However, looks like Maynard needs the cash given the state of his clobber.

Definitely a good start to recruitment fkr Macca this week. We definitely now need some steel in midfield. A right dirty bastard would be good. We always seem much too nice.

I think we need a left back, centre back, and two central midfielders with some bite and height. We've been far too nice the last four years and need a mean streak. Does anyone else have any ideas?

Agree with you entirely. Think we will need at least two more centre backs though, we had four last year, we've only got Astles right now haven't we? James Jones too of course but he's not going to be a starter.

Shame Sutton re signed for Tranmere he would have been ideal. There are plenty of good players out and I'm sure JM will get the right ones in.

Macclesfield have two experienced centre backs in McCombe and Pilkington who may want to take the same route Halls has. Whitaker would also be a great signing and the winger Browne looks like a quality winger.
Also, Josh Thompson at Southport is making a recovery from his terrible injury. He's a man mountain and probably doesn't want to play Conf North. Might be worth a look at.

Would agree that Whittaker would be an excellent signing. Dominates games at this level and would push us onto the next level.
Whether we'd even stand a chance, I've no idea but the uncertainty at Macc makes it a question worth asking, surely?

I'd certainly be throwing an offer his way - we can probably compete with what Macc will be offering.

Cracking signings by JM so far really impressed and has gone some way to showing his us that he means business this season, hate to admit it but I wasn't expecting the quality of signings so far...so having signed six any more expected still think another central midfielder and a left back wouldn't go miss.

Alex Whittle would be a great signing. 24 year old left back, one of York's best players last season, contracted there but wants to leave as doesn't want Conf North football..
Sign him up Macca...
